'GROUP RACE GLORY' COMP

Welcome to the Group Race Glory Comp !

The aim of this comp is FUN, FUN, FUN. Oh, and also to see which one of you Horse Racing Desparados will become the KINGPIN GROUP RACE TIPSTAR I have tried to keep this simple because I’m sure Sportz and Crash have far too much time on their hands! I’ve kept the dollars out of this because I’m only a primary school teacher and can’t add up too well.

I also kept the $ out of it because I want to reward the best overall GROUP RACE tipster on our fine forum, not just the lucky ************** who snares one or two first 4 for the season.

OK – DETAILS OF THE COMP

Starting with the Lightning Stakes and running every weekend until the final day of the Sydney Carnival (April 14) I’ll be asking for your top 4 selections on a group race nominated each week in the order you’ll think they’ll finish.

Eg Melbourne Cup

2 Delta Blues
12 Pop Rock
23 Maybe Better
13 Zipping

We’ll keep a table following each race.

Points will be scored for the following:

Top selection runs 1st – 10 pts
Top selection runs 2nd – 6 pts
Top selection runs 3rd – 2 pts
Box Quinella – 15 pts
Box Trifecta – 30 pts
Box first 4 – 75 pts
If you pick the winner 3 weeks in a row you get a BONUS 100 pts

Points for 1st,2nd or 3rd are earned for your top selection ONLY.

Thus, if you correctly selected the first 4 in running order you would earn
10pts (1st) + 15pts (BQuin) + 30pts (BTri) + 75pts (1st4) = 130pts

Note

If any of your selections are scratched your other selections will move up a place and you will receive the sp favourite on unitab to replace the scratching. If there are two equal faves you’ll get the number closest to #1
If two of your selections are scratched – BAD LUCK !
You’ll be out of the running for the first 4

SELECTIONS NEED TO BE IN 1 HOUR BEFORE THE BIG RACE
I think that is pretty much covers it

If you have any questions just ask and I’m expecting lots of customers since I’m a L-PLATE COMPMASTER and most of you leave your tips on other threads anyway.

GOOD LUCK AND GOOD TIPPING

Perhaps you'd like to be my first contestant Chuck?

mad 30th January 2007 02:55 PM

I'll be in.

I'll post selections later in the week, if that's permissible Mr Spartacus.

Sportz 30th January 2007 03:52 PM

Ahhh, good to see someone else sharing some of the competition organising load.

I think perhaps you could possibly reward people a bit more for picking the winner though. Perhaps 30 points if your top tip wins, 20 if it comes second and 10 if it comes 3rd. Then the highest possible score would be 150 points.

Chuck 30th January 2007 06:12 PM

yeah i'll have a go

I like the way you think Sportz. It'll probably be easier for me to work it all out and I'll be rewarding the top selections more (which was my intention)

I knew a wiser, more experienced compmaster would help me out.

Points system now:
Top selection 1st - 30 pts
Top selection 2nd - 20 pts
Top selection 3rd - 10 pts
Box Quinella – 15 ptsffice
Box Trifecta – 30 pts
Box first 4 – 75 pts
If you pick the winner 3 weeks in a row you get a BONUS 100 pts

Over and out.

I am trying something out in this comp and want to see how it works only really have something devised for the sprint races at the moment so this is all trial and error right now.

1. Magnus ****
2. Virage De Fortune
3. Strada
4. California Dane

Sub: Miss Andretti (she actually didn't even end up in this spot but I don't trust it that well yet to leave her out in case of a scratching if you want to know it was actually Ticklish which should have been in this spot)

I'll also say that my little system says that Liger just might be to quick for Excites in the Debonair time will tell to.

mad 3rd February 2007 03:48 PM

Well bugga' me.

Raw Instinct 3rd February 2007 04:14 PM

I would like to have seen Magnus get a better run in transit 3 wide no cover is no spoil when breaking track records.

Sportz 3rd February 2007 04:20 PM

Ooops, I forgot.

I would have had Miss Andretti on top but I wouldn't have had the other 3.
