NATIONAL PUNTING LEAGUE (Autumn 2007)
 

Welcome to the National Punting League for Autumn 2007. For those that aren't exactly sure what's going on, it's 16 tipsters going head to head each week in an effort to reach the final series conducted over the week of the AJC Autumn carnival, with the champion to be decided on April 14.

PLEASE read the rules carefully:

RULES

Each week, all tipsters must provide a selection in the designated feature race of the week.
Everyone must include a tip for this race, and also a reserve selection in case of scratchings.

Tipsters must then choose 4 more selections from any races in Australia covered by Unitab.
Simply post your four selections, and also please include 2 extra reserve selections (in order of preference), in case you have any scratchings. For these selections, you can use any race meeting in Australia, metro or provincial, providing that it's covered by Unitab.

If you want any of your selections each-way instead of win only, please say so in your post.
If you don't write each-way next to your tips, then it will just be assumed that you want them win only and will be scored that way.

You are allowed to choose the same feature race selection as your opponent, but ALL of your other 4 main selections must be different.
This rule rewards people for posting early and also stops people strategically copying some of their opponents selections. Before you post, please check to see if your opponent has already posted their tips and make sure you don't choose the same ones. As stated, the feature race selection CAN be the same however.

Points will be awarded on the basis of either $20 Win or $10 Each-way using Unitab dividends.
It's pretty easy to work out your score (and your opponent's score) throughout the day. All you need to do is check out the Unitab website or any website that displays their dividends.

The absolute final deadline for posting your tips is jump time in the feature race of the week.
I would actually prefer that everyone gets their tips in by 1pm Qld time if that's possible, but if you forget or you're a bit late, then I will accept tips up until jump time in the feature race.

If anyone misses out on tipping one round over the first 5 weeks, there's an extra day where you can post tips for that round.
This is called the second chance round. If, for some reason, you miss out on tipping one of the first 5 rounds, you have another chance on Mar 12 (Adelaide Cup day) to post tips. To be fair, your opponent would also get another chance to tip on that day and improve on their original score. After round 5, if you miss out on any week's tipping, then it's just bad luck.

If you score more points than your opponent for the week, then you receive the 4 competition points for winning.
It doesn't matter what any of the other 14 tipsters do on the day. You are only competing against one other tipster each week. If 2 tipsters end up level at the end of the day, then it's a draw and they get 2 points each. A bonus point is included as a reward for a great tipping performance. If you score 150 points or more, you get a bonus point, no matter whether you win, lose or draw.

At the end of the 8 preliminary rounds, the top 8 tipsters will go into the final series conducted over the AJC carnival.
If there are any tipsters level on points, then "points for" will be used to split them. As a reward for finishing higher on the ladder, the higher ranked tipsters will be given "home ground advantage" on the first 3 days of the final series. They will be allowed to make an extra tip. The Grand final will be conducted on Saturday April 14.

Well, normally I don't finalise my comp tips till around midday Saturday, but I'm usually in a bit of a rush then, so I thought I'd post them early to get them out of the way this time. But it turned out I was left with a few tips which I wasn't 100% keen on today and I actually wouldn't have chosen them if I had posted today.

Picked a good week to come against Mav he is belting me here got no hope of beating him ever when his horses look gone they managed to kick and win.

Well I am hoping for Hard to Catch to do nothing but run into backsides in the straight just so I can get to the last race with a chance atleast if Hard to Catch wins I think it is game over.

I've finished on 102 points and umrum's on zero. But he's still got 3 tips left in Perth where he's so hard to beat.

Well done Mav way to good for me this week atleast my mate Apache Cat gave me a win financially for the day thought I would get a bit better odds though.

It's in my fantasy stable and I've also got a Blue Diamond futures bet riding on it in the sports punting comp!!! Wouldn't go into the barriers and I guess it must be in a bit of doubt for the Diamond now. :(
