Two Nix U-Bet

Hi All,
I have just down loaded the U-Bet unattended betting software.
But I am having trouble writing scores sheets and importing them into U-Bet?.
I created an Excel 97 CSV file and tried to import it in to U-Bet.
Even though I copied and pasted it in to the U-Bet folder, the program says no such file exists?
I have written so many queries to Nick Aubrey for assistance, he no longer answers my emails?.
I have mastered the other elementary tasks associated with the program, except importing ratings-- which are called scores in U-Bet.
Can some kind soul who has mastered U-Bet please help?
Regards, Robert

Not that I've used that feature, but.

I can't find an Import Scores function.

But there is an Add Scores control on BOTTOM LEFT of the screen.

Sure you haven't confused Add Scores with Import Rules?

Your inappropriate Copy and Paste gestures are suspicious. Why didn't you Save File As or move it?

And why move it at all?

The Select Score File lets you navigate to whatever directory you created your Scores File in.

If you do that you should see your file in the file list Box then the Import should also find it.

If not then maybe your file name is wrong - e.g. score.csv.csv

Hi JFC,
Thanks for your reply.
I tried to do what you said by using the add scores button, but it only crashed the U-Bet program.
So I copied and pasted the file in to the U-Bet folder.
When I typed the name of the file in the add scores box, it found it.
But it had it named Score.csv.xls .
Now in Excel it did not have the extra .xls on the end?.
So I do not know what is going on?.
I have never created a CSV file before, but all I did was save it as " Score.CSV "
As I have the public version (2006) I can not get the IAS prices in to my version of U-Bet, so I thought I would try to import the score for one race with the IAS openers.
So far I have not been able to import the scores into U-Bet successfully.
Regards, Robert

You probably are saving it as "Microsoft Excel WorkBook".

When you probably should be saving it as "CSV "

Look at the "Save as type" in your Excel drop-down.

It's a fair bet we have different Excels for a start so try to figure out what the translation changes need to be.

You need to end up with Score.csv

Score.csv.xls is a workbook name.

Crashes? Join the club.

Hi JFC,
Thanks again for your reply.
Yes you were correct.
I was not saving the file properly.
One has to choose the correct option at the bottom of the save window.
So I chose the " comma delimited CSV ", and that did it.
As I said, I have never saved a file in CSV format before, I have never needed to.
But I still have problems, the error said that I could not use the " change me "
so I changed that, then the error said that the " change me " was missing ".
plus other errors which I can not remember at this point.
And it corrupted the race, which I could not load.
So I closed the U-Bet program and went into the U-Bet database and deleted all today's races.
I was unable to delete the scores for today from the database?.
The program seems to be working o.k. now.
But of course without me loading the scores.
Another problem I have with U-Bet is I have to keep re launching the program to get it to start getting the " Race TAB Live " data which is always the last and the most difficult to get.
Is your version the public (2006) version?.
If it is then at least we are talking about the same version.

Robert,

I have U-Bet 3.0 Build 3.0.2.0

But I don't use it.

And since it just took me 2 hours to recover from the crash it caused when I tried to look at your problem, I don't plan to go anywhere near it again for a very long time.

So I am not in a position to attempt to answer anything else about it.

Hi JFC,
Thanks for your last reply.
Sorry to find out you had a bad crash problem.
I too have had crash problems where I have had to resort to the old " control- alt-delete to close the task, as U-Bet went into a cascade of small windows.

I appreciate your help so far, I was able to load the score in to U-Bet with all the columns, which never happened before, except it had two columns which were not needed, the country code and the galloping columns.
I think this may have been causing the errors I had, and these two columns should have been zeroed out if this is possible?.

Once again thanks very much for your help.
Regards, Robert

Hi JFC, and Trenchdigger,
I have at last successfully imported scores in U-Bet.
Thanks mainly to JFC, whom I thank very much indeed.
I was going to import IAS opening odds in to a race at the only Australian galloping meeting today at Moe, but as IAS are not putting up prices until just minutes before the race I decided to import the Bet Selector prices instead.
Well it worked very well.
One has to allocate columns to Country and Meeting Type as well making 7 columns in all as under
1. country = AUS
2. meeting type = Galloping
3. date = 7/6/07
4. track = Moe
5. race number = 2
6. runner number ( I did all runners in the race )
7. score = Bet Selector odds

You might be interested to know that I am using Excel 97 to create the CSV score file not Excel 2003 and yet it worked very well in spite of that.

Many thanks to JFC for his valuable help, sorry it caused him so much trouble.

Here are the 14 steps to enter scores ( odds etc into U-Bet )
1. copy and paste the CSV file you created into the U-Bet folder
2. then in U-Bet click add scores.
3. then find this CSV file in the U-Bet folder and open it.
4. click add score
5. column 7 click " change me " to the name you gave your CSV file I called mine **** which is short for Bet Selector and make sure the column number is 7.
6. un tick load matched scores.
7. tick country in column 1
8. tick race type in column 2
9. tick date in column 3
10. tick venue in column 4
11. tick race number in column 5
12. tick runner number in column 6
13. click save.
14. click load race files.

Then load the race or races you have targeted with your scores and you should find a separate column with your odds in it to the right of the TAB odds with your score name in the heading at the top.

That is all there is to it folks.
A bit more than a couple of mouse clicks as is advertised on the Two Nix website, still once one is used to it, it is quite simple.

I do hope someone will find my steps above useful if they want to import scores in to U-Bet?.

Hi Trenchdigger,
Yes 10 years ago I purchased the Data Probe software from Kosh Racing.
Brett Northcott the writer of the program was a brilliant racing software writer.
His stuff was the first betting bot in Australia, and was years ahead of it's time.
I used to pay Telstra only $11 a month for a special service which enabled me to send bets to my NSW TAB account. As it did not use the Internet.
I used to hear even in another room the modem dialing up to put bets on.
I would think, there is no way it will get the bets on less than a minute but it always did. It was beautiful to watch.
The program used to monitor the NSW TAB odds from the Teletext.
Koch Racing were marketing a trifecta program which had different strategies for each customer. They gave out strategies for certain race tracks, i.e. each track had it's own strategy. Not surprisingly the NSW TAB was advertising this software in their quarterly magazines, as any purchaser would increase the NSW TAB turnover.
There was an option to get the race data via a subscription service from I think was called Racedata. This an option even when the NSW TAB was still supplying the free Teletext odds.
I also purchased a win bet program from Koch Marketing at the same time, which was much better than their trifecta program in my opinion.
I had it running one Friday night on the trots and it was showing a balance of more than $4,000, and I thought that can not be right. As I only had $1,000 in my NSW account. But the betting program had amassed more than $3,000 profit on one night, which really was unbelievable to me.
But it eventually all was lost as the strategy turned sour.

Incidentally I can now once again run this win strategy using U-Bet.

There was another chap who's last name was Clarke and he also was marketing a betting bot using trifectas a few years after DataProbe for I think around $12,000.

Hi Rob,

thanks for that.

Do you know of any application that could bet your top 2 rated (I use bet selector ratings) at a pre selected price say > $4 then select the best tote 30 seconds before jump.

On the basis that you put your criteria in the morning and go and do other stuff during the rest of the day.

Hi Trenchdigger,
Yes the Two Nix U-Bet would be ideal for what you want to do.

Today I entered the Better ratings top pick and it's price into each race at all three gallop meetings. And told the program to back the Better Ratings selection if any of the 3 totes had a better price at race time. And it worked like a dream.
I personally do not have accounts at all 3 totes, so I cannot use the best tote feature in my version, but it certainly will place the bet at the best tote at race time or any time you specify. I assume you do have accounts at all 3 totes?.

Evening Robert,

is it difficult to enter once you know how and how long would it take to enter all **** top 2 rated x 4 metro meetings x 8 races.

Hi Trenchdigger,
I entered all the IAS openers for all races at Eagle Farm, Moonee Valley and Morphettville on Saturday.
Yes it did take time about 45 minutes, but only 2 runners per race over 4 meetings should not take that long.

Let's look at it this way, if one estimates that there were about 14 runners per race. 45 minutes / 336 runners = .13 of one minute per horse.
So 4 x 2 x 8 = 64 runners x .13 = 8.32 minutes approximately, which is not that long. Especially if it can be done in the morning of the race day.

I had to continually click between the IAS website and the Excel sheet to enter the IAS opening odds for every runner. The Stradbroke and the Derby in Brisbane had 20 runners, but other races had only 11 runners.
Also this was my first attempt of entering all the odds for every race on the 3 remaining meetings after the Sydney washout.

So I could get much quicker in time, and so could you.

I hope I have answered your question.
Regards, Robert
