The Race

The straight course at Ascot underwent complete reconstruction ahead of the course’s reopening in 2006. Ascot now has an uninterrupted straight mile course following the elimination of the road crossing and a completely new drainage system has been integrated. The Golden Jubilee Stakes is run on the final six furlongs (1,200 metres) of the straight mile, with the course rising gradually throughout from the start to the winning post.

nothing looks familiar.

for some reason we dont have alot of 1200 sprints on the turf up here.

if i see something ill give a hollar.

humdinger 6th June 2007 06:13 PM

Amadeus Wolf ran 5th in last year's Golden Jubilee and 4th in the July Cup..,, scored first-up in the Duke Of York Stakes (1200m) at York last month..,,I'd be wanting more than $7.50

humdinger 6th June 2007 08:45 PM

Asset, a lightly raced 4YO faces his biggest challenge..,,an onpacer and fresh..,, but others could go a bit too quick for him..,,unders imo at $9

Raw Instinct 6th June 2007 09:00 PM

Was it Benbaun that flashed home late in last years Golden Jubilee behind Les Arc? if so his run was sensational on that occasion and do either Les Arc or the horse that ran 2nd (Whether Bebaun or whoever) have any form at all since.

That was Balthazaars Gift (50/1 that day), Raw..,,currently listed 70/1..,,done nought since that run..,,Les Arcs (33/1 that day) won the Darley July Cup (1200) following his Golden Jubilee win but failed dismally at York (1200) mid May last..,,currently listed 20/1

Raw Instinct 6th June 2007 09:20 PM

Yea you are right I knew the name started with B anyway might be worth a specy at that price was a hell of a run last year if it could recapture that form at all.

Raw Instinct 6th June 2007 09:22 PM

I was actually lucky enough to have landed Les Arcs at $51 i think last year on fixed odds for the Golden Jubilee and I thought I got double figure odds in the July Cup aswell wasn't sure what he has done since then though.

humdinger 6th June 2007 09:29 PM

Good one Raw..,, his run in the King's Stand before hand was much better than it looked..,, finished midfield..,, got held up a few times..,,wasn't beaten far at the end

Raw Instinct 6th June 2007 09:32 PM

No I had seen that that was half the reason why I had a shot at him in the Golden Jubilee did find it interesting that he had been over the hurdles before hand.

Over hurdles! Now I know why I didn't back him last year lol
Still, very strange

Les Arcs needed the run at York!
Had a wide draw, big weight & an easy track which did not play to his strengths.
Same race Amadeus Wolf an impressive winner.
Has matured further since his last campaign.

watsonnek 7th June 2007 09:33 PM

Been reported that there's been 1 bet of $16K at $5.50 with Sportingbet Australia on the Lee Freedman trained Miss Andretti to take out the Golden Jubilee Stakes. Not you westman!?

westman 8th June 2007 03:22 PM

I wish ;) Go the fighting tigress!!!

kiwiz 9th June 2007 10:51 AM

no doubt the Oz invaders should do well but I'll be having some both totes AL QASI. won 4 from 6 last season. failed [but not beat far] first-up behind Amadeus Wolf in the Duke Of York Stakes but not known for first-up ability.

WAOS 11th June 2007 07:16 PM

Soldier's Tale an interesting nomination.
Won 3 from 5 before being sidelined for 22 months before making his reappearance when a fighting 3rd behind Amadeus Wolf in the Duke Of York Stakes (1200M).
Followed that run with another fighting 3rd over 1400M at Haydock.
Obviously much fitter for those runs.

they will be shorter after the Kings Stand.
& both more suited in this imo.

Hope they don't get too greedy. Winning in course record time must have taken something out of the engine room.

i understand what ur saying but regardless of the time she would have put in the same effort to win the race in whatever time..... if the time reads 59.44 instead of 57.44 and she still wins it doesnt mean she's done it easier...... they went there to win from the start. they would have planned for her to be at her peak for the king stand but yes the only doubt was whether she would back up. i dont think they would have ever even thought about just giving her the run in the king's stand to save her for the ascot

A bit of rain Royal Ascot, track now rated good to soft, soft in places. No greys :( The downunder trio look very strong. Miss Andretti, Takeover Target & Magnus. Baltic King & Wi Dud are my outsiders.
