Sunline's first foal
 

Sunstrike, the first foal of champion racemare Sunline (sire - Rock Of Gibraltar) had her 2nd race start yesterday at Whangarei, NZ. Finished well back (2nd last), dead track. Previous start ran last at Pukekohe, slow track. Let's hope she will improve heaps with age & experience!

usually the first girl is all daddy. hopefully her next one out will be a colt.

Don't know why, but as a rule, great mares usually don't produce anything outstanding.

I vaguely remember reading something related, every 2nd generation thing, i.e. Sunline’s daughters may produce some good gallopers!?

Opinion shared by Lee Freedman. He believes Makybe Diva is more likely to star as a grand dam.

Owner Tony Santic yet to decide whether he will retain the colt and race him or put him through the sales ring! A quick cool $2-3million sounds good to me!

1/4 as good as mum would get more from prizemoney [keeping colt & racing it]

I'd keep major share & sell the rest

santic will probably sell it. as a businessman sentiment goes out the window so i think he'll take the 2.5-3 mill he can get for it. although would be good to see it run under santic's name in mum's colours
