Thousand Guineas Day

I won't be having much tomorrow.

I think El Pauji will be hard to beat though. Raced on the speed beaten by Vormista. And what must be remembered was that she was on the speed running in the quicksand and held on to run 3rd. If she can run up to that she will be hard to catch.

Post your comments here if you will be having a go tomorrow.

There is no consistant form.
El Pauji isn't entered. Arcadia needs to mature a bit, Absolut Glam and Zarita have wide gates, don't trust Perfect Persuasion to fire, Serious Speed will be overlooked but put in an amazing run last outing and has barrier and Nikolic to contend with, Jestatune has all the favours but couldn't get out to have a crack at them last time so dunno how it will go, Truly Beautiful is well overs.
Not one cracker of mine in this, unpredictable affair.
FWIW

Ummm, yes she is. In Race 7, the one AFTER the Thousand Guineas.

Sorry, my bad. I thought the thread was about The Thousand Guineas.
It is actually about the day of racing.
Duh.

Horse Whisperer 16th October 2007 04:29 PM

Ill have a couple of bets, Gunna stick with Absolut Glam, great run last time, obviously could have won. Ill have a go at a roughie in Protesta in the 1600m race, thought its run at flemington was great, making some ground in the worst part of the track, only thing is i think it might be looking for some more distance.

Amyjaye power

maverick1993 16th October 2007 06:28 PM

A few i'm looking at tomorrow
Katherine Gold....finishing off nicely behind some good horses,,you'd think the extra distance would suit..
Amyjaye Power....doesnt win enough to get overly excited about,,,but the horse is racing well and theres a few of these that havent raced in a while that could be vulnerable..tempo should suit..

Truly Beautiful...the horse has ability,,should come across and put herself intot the race..
Jetstatune...not entirely convinced the distance (breeding) but seemed to hit the line well last start after no luck at all..

Hoodlum...huge run last start,,,
Majestical....a roughie that is improving and suited over the trip

Gawler
Positve Action..horse is flying..
Merlot Now....looks to good for these,,nt the best track for him but Hoppo will have him going alittle earlier..

Best is Merlot Now :)

jefff_12 16th October 2007 07:04 PM

I backed Amyjay Power last start, thought she was home. Just does not win enough, she is one you have to get on the right day.

I think Serious Speed is a really good E/W bet in the Guineas. Was rocketing home last start behind El Darna. Nicolik gets the ride tomorrow and if the speed is on she is sure to be in the finish. You can get $16 on her on Sportsbet at the moment.
However I do think that Absolute Glam will be hard to beat.

Post your best bet on the program with you reasons for it winning. I'm looking to have some multi's with some nice odds.

I know the name doesn't suggest it (others have been fooled before), but Amyjaye power is a bloke! :)

HAHA, my mistake. Don't even think about what I am writing. Writing that name just makes you think HE is a girl.

LOL as long as it wins who cares :)

jefff_12 16th October 2007 08:01 PM

I hope he doesn't win, as I dont think I will be on him. Not sure if i will be on anything so if im not I don't mind. I am a little interested in Nips. At long odd returning from a long break after bowing a tendon. Form before this was very good running close to Takeover Target. If that form can be re-produced he wins this. Just not sure how he was go coming back from the injury.

1000 Guineas

Extension of Time is the only leader in this but Nash Rawiller has jumped off the horse and I can't see Zahra controlling this race.

Barrier 5 looks good for Peter Moody's on-pacer River San with Nolan on deck.

Serious Speed [mid-pacer] was tightened for room, struck interference at the start and was also checked early last start but still finished a 1/2 length 2nd to Al Dana from b 14 at Flemington. A better barrier here.

Truly Beautiful hasn't raced for 25 days which is a worry. River San for a win and with Serious Speed, Justatune, El Dana and Extension of Time for a 2x5x5 Tri.

Will give Jestatune and Antarctic Miss another chance. Should be very competitive. Cannot ignore is Riva San and and Absolut Glam. I have put in El Danna and Extension of Time in my Tri....

Raw Instinct 17th October 2007 07:27 PM

Amazing odds from Serious speed there today i had 3 bets all in the guineas El Daana and Serious Speed for the win and Beaming Bella e/w and in the end won quite well on the day I tossed up having an all uper with Serious Speed and Casual Kiss glad i didn't now.

crash 18th October 2007 06:51 AM

I missed the 1st 4 by 1 horse from 5 [didn't bet a 1st 4 though anyway]. I should have looked more closely at the horse Nash Rawiller switched to as it cost me a result in the tri. but I did pick up a quin.

At the odds I ended up backing both my my 2 winning selections for a win as I couldn't believe the odds offered for Serious Speed [way overs]. A good day.

Real Deal 18th October 2007 07:35 AM

I had a very small tri in the big one and didnt land a single placegetter.lol.

Only serious bet for the day was Cocoa Tycoon in the 2nd last-was almost in the queue to collect coming down the straight, then the jockey decided to go inside rather than outside-so frustrating. $3.5 a place will have to do-looked a certainty beat though!

jefff_12 18th October 2007 07:57 AM

Big run from serious speed. Spewing I didn't back it srtaight out though, had it in a small multi into Maldivian on Saturday. Good to have the bet into Saturday but spewing I missed out on the $16.

It was a tough day though, as it quite often is on Thousand Guineas Day. All we cn hope for now is that the track will play alright for Saturday. Never does though by Caulfield Cup day.

maverick1993 18th October 2007 04:07 PM

Katherine Gold and good old Merlot Now for me yesterday ,,,,can't beleive how good this horse has been for me :) i owe the hewitts a beer or two,,

Amyjaye Power ,,dissapointing,,just a nonwinner that must be driving connections nuts....wont ever get my money again

Jetstatune,,,very ordinary,,always doubted him over the trip and should have paid more attention to that detail...hard race anyway,,,well done Crash on getting the winner..

Hope you all had a good one :)

crash 18th October 2007 04:39 PM

Thanks Mav.

A sobering thought though: Serious Speed's only win was in a Murray Bridge Maiden and a MW1 3yr. old filly's race at Morphetville. Then wins a G1 !

Begs the question doesn't it about the class of horses we have going around lately as the above is not a one off.
