Golden Slipper ????

Very Hard Race even after todays Barrier Draw. A roughy will win it im fairly confident of this. I still like Reaan! Even though it didnt race on the right leg the other week it won the Blue Diamond impressively and Hayes has said they will ride him cold which in a slipper can be beneficial considering the pace of the race! Any thoughts??

Sportz 15th April 2008 04:11 PM

Not so much a golden slipper as a dirty old thong this year. Amelia's Dream would have won by 6 lengths.

crash 15th April 2008 04:46 PM

I like AUGUSTA PROUD and SUGAR BABE [forget last run]

How tough is this race,,i'll be having a token bet on probably All American who should get the nice draw into a position if he follows Shes Meaner across..,,I'd be Happier with Shinn on board Sebring but should still run well..

Horse Whisperer 15th April 2008 05:45 PM

I agree this is a very tough race, just like every other year. Ill be looking for some value which isn't hard. Krupt has drawn well and should be running home, Augusta Proud i thought was very impressive in the Magic Millions, I was at the track for the race and never thought it was going to get there. Looks like a tough fighting horse.

schonegg 16th April 2008 01:12 AM

As they said on Racing Retro last Sunday, unlike other years, every owner of a runner in this field can think they actually have a chance of winning.
Sidereus won the Pago pago last weekend but is the outsider at $35!

crash 16th April 2008 07:54 AM

from 'The Australian'

"Perfect ... he will be very competitive from there," said Waterhouse of Sebring's draw.

"And he won't mind it if this weather keeps up."

Indeed, when he won on debut in January, Sebring was strong on a slow track, beating Slipper rivals Over The Wicket (gate seven) and Sidereus (gate two) into the minor placings.

With heavy rain on Sunday and little chance of the track drying out after two overcast days since, Rosehill had an official reading late yesterday bordering on heavy, with showers to persist throughout the week.

The Slipper has only twice been decided on a heavy track, the first time in 1963 when postponed from a Saturday to the following Wednesday. That race was won by the Adelaide colt Pago Pago, a late entry.

Adelaide trainer Leon Macdonald had just the one word, "excellent", when his unbeaten filly Augusta Proud drew gate one, which trimmed her price to $9 (second favourite).

And perhaps an appropriate draw, too, matching the 111111- record the filly has in her six starts to date.

Augusta Proud will attempt to boost the best winning barrier record; seven Slipper winners have jumped from gate one.

Chiquita 16th April 2008 12:07 PM

yeah a pin job if ever I saw one!

Raw Instinct 17th April 2008 05:59 AM

I am thinking of having a bit of a go at probably Over the Wicket e/w and Stripper e/w they are both drawn fairl well and both of them will hit the line strongly, I like Portillo aswell not sure whether or not the draw helped her much though.

crash 17th April 2008 03:53 PM

Heavy track for sure. Get out the darts.

maverick1993 17th April 2008 05:07 PM

I'm having something on the barriers 9-16 at $2.08 especially if its going to be heavy..
Odd numbers (saddlecloths) is $2.10 seems ok ..

as for the runners ,,if its going to be a hard slog down the long straight i'd be looking for something bred to get over the longer,,
Voncosta, Over the Wicket and burgies maybe ..,,i've already got something on All American at 11's ,,so consdering the jackpot 1st4 is going to be huge i'll be having a big go at that instead of throwing more darts,,,

crash 17th April 2008 05:21 PM

For the heavy track my dart says Sugar Babe.

Stix 18th April 2008 03:12 PM

AAAAAAAAAAHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...... rain...... anything with a precipitation connotation in its name.... I'll have that !!!

#18 Typhoon Fury for mine !... can I fix those odds!

By the time this race gets around to running, I think the inside will be glue!

darkydog2002 19th April 2008 10:43 AM

As its a raffle I have bought out my "Golden Pin "system aptly named dark sky and have gone for Horses 1 + 16.

Cheers.
darky.

ijuandaQLD 19th April 2008 02:22 PM

well the race is only 15 mins away and im more confused at what will win. i think picking the winner when they were all yearlings would have been easier. i think sebring is definitely the one to beat. but like you guys have said....throw a dart....maybe a danger with Burgeis. has always been talked about and maybe they've got it ready this time......... would love to see clare lindop get up on Augusta Proud.....if she wins her boyfriend/trainer? will be getting to bend her over and give her one tonight

Raw Instinct 19th April 2008 02:28 PM

I had a shot at the 1st 4 taking 4,5,6,10,14,15 when there is over a half a million jackpot in the pool I am happy to take a stab at it for a 11% share to much in the pool not to have a shot at it.

The horse or the jockey??

schonegg 19th April 2008 06:02 PM

Sometimes seems that way Northern. So if the inside was off then how much do you add to Sebring's effort(rating)?
Of the others....
You'd like to be an owner of Von Costa De Hero. What a future!
Augusta Proud ran up to her awful trial - flat. But Leon Mc went ahead and paid 150k late entry
Related beaten 8 lengths!
We should never believe a word from Tony Vasil. Talked up the chances again of Burgeis. Beaten nearly 8 lengths

maverick1993 20th April 2008 10:00 AM

I agree about Voncosta ,,what future this horse ,,,thought All American was good also..
Augusta Proud didnt handle the track but didnt disgrace herself..
