Testing Resumers

After a post or two from lomaca on another thread I have decided to test resumers but only particular ones.

I randomly checked a few different race days and it seemed to look okay with some decent priced winners and placed horses but I didn't write down anything so it probably won't amount to much. I will not use any real money on this but will test for win and place.

Starting on a Saturday is probably no the smartest thing to do but I will start out pretty broadly as per the rules below and see where it takes us.

Rules to start of with - using TattsBet/Unitab site and results:
- Race distance under 1400m (but not including 1400m)
- Must be 1X or 2X
- Will also check XanyX (where there is only one run between the two spells)
- Will also check 1X1
- We back all selections if there is more than one in a race

Selections today Saturday 24/9/11

Doomben (Race No & then Horse No(s)
2 4 & 7
7 1

Rosehill
5 9 (1x1 form)
8 5 & 8

Caulfield
1 1, 4 & 8 (x7x form)
7 11

Gold Coast
3 7 (form x8x)
7 5

Newcastle
7 3 & 9

Packenham
7 2

Morphettville
6 2 (form x6x)
8 7, 13 & 4 (form 1x1)

Bowraville
1 5 (form x3x)

Belmont
1 1, 4 & 5
3 1
6 6

Geraldton
5 11

Darwin
5 5

27 selections so Outlay = $27 for win and $27 for place

Sounds like a big outlay. Hopefully it will be alright.

Fingers crossed :)

Good luck with it, I may add that if they are DonSct's first or second selections on the Neurals site, then they have an even better chance, any distance any odd price the longer the better!

By being selective I really meant selective ie won or placed on the distance and good at first up!

Sorry I have to rephrase that "first or second selections" in the BRR column! That is top or second rated in that column!

No worries lomaca. At this stage I'll keep it to the existing rules and see what happens, although were off to an incredible start - NOT!

Good luck with it lomaca. Are the selections what you said yesterday - resumers that are top 2 in the BRR Don Scott ratings?

Yesterday was terrible.
Outlay $27 Win only $9.10, Place only $9.20
So big losses for both win and place yesterday.

Yes they are.
I noticed, that when DS rating selects one on the top and it's a resumer, but not in top half of the neurals or morning line, it very often wins or places at good odds.

I'm not betting them just monitoring them when I check the results.

Well, I didn't expect anything else really, just because first up horses do win doesn't mean they ALL win all the time.

I bet some when the prices are right, but I have very few bets and bet in the $10+ range mostly.

OOPs, sorry I just noticed that the winner at Bairnsdale was a first up horse as well and top in DS.

Better check it for yourselves to make sure I didn't miss any, if you follow this folly!

According to Barry Blakemores research Fillies and mares do better as do 2 + 3YO

Might be worth looking into.

Cheers

Forget about this for the day, we were going out and I was in a hurry, made an absolute hash of it with missing horses and putting others in the wrong races.

On top of it all DS did not cooperate today, not unusual but doesn't happen often.

Good luck for the rest of the day.

PS #13 Miss Dargelly quoted in race 4 at Nara is in fact in race 4 at Northam, but beware the race is full of first starters.

I didn't check any of these lomaca, sorry. How did it go today?

I wish we could find this mystical Holy Grail. As far as systems are concerned, all I keep turning up are turds.

Sorry Ocho I made too many mistakes with the selections to even bother to check.

I have to point out that I never intended this to be a "system", merely to demonstrate that first uppers do win under the right circumstances.

From what I saw yesterday (limited it was) most of those selections became favs. and duly lost, and the longshots that supposed to win, also were on strike.

In my own betting, which does not include Sundays, I found that with my rating certain days and tracks are losers.

Maybe we can say the same for the Neurals too? Wonder if anyone has done some work on this?

Cheers
