Influence of Pre Post market

Here is an interesting question. I will leave it opened ended at the momemt and quantify what I mean if the answers are not as obvious as I think they might be.

How much influence on the Starting Price of a horse ( SP) does the pre post market have.

I will leave it at that, then dribble out what My thought's are.

It would be somewhat easier to respond to your question if you were clear in the first instance regards where your thoughts or opinions lie, if just in summary form.

ZERO.
I pick ZERO Influence.

It possibly has influence on what Price animals Open Up on the Totes , but that is about it.
Any Punter that uses the PrePost Market as a guide will have wagered very early on.

???

First would be form(early market) then smart money(there must be some) then weight of money proplery in that order -some markets are done weeks in advance

Ok. Thanks for the early replies. I agree with all those replies, but, I have been looking at one particular site that has the Pre post markets on nearly every race in Australia.

Now, I would expect their priced to be all over the place, but, especially over the last six weeks ( that's all I have been taking notice of ) how close they are to the actual starting prices.

It does not seem logical to me how they can be so accurate right through the field even if their is more then 14 starters.

That is why I asked, is their prices a self fullfilling prophesy and they have so much swing on the market or is their assesors so good that they are close to spot on.

( To be continued. )

Hi Pete,
Chrome had something around the Prepost prices and betting those that shortened in the Market so might be worth investigating further with **************.
Cheers.

From an old post on here, don't know the author .....

Pre-Post Ranking.

1=28,827 (7,427w) (25.7%) ($3.20 av div) (-18.0%)
2=28,287 (5,086w) (17.6%) ($4.70 av div) (-17.0%)
3=28,827 (3,993w) (13.8%) ($6.05 av div) (-15.6%)
4=28,827 (3,184w) (11.0%) ($7.74 av div) (-14.4%)

Also Privateer had in his well known Pareto thread pre-post in his top two criteria. His pre-post prices were $3.50 to $11.00.
