Had an early wager on the Gai Waterhouse trained Tres Blue. Glad I did, has firmed considerably in the past few weeks. Has winning weight-for-age form overseas & is set to carry just 51 kgs in the big one!

And will be trying to become the first horse in 20 years to win without a leadup run in Oz. Good luck, Jimmy.

Sounds like Tres Blue has really settled-in, put on some 25 kilos since arriving, hopefully muscle & not fat :)

With the Field Size its just a raffle whichever way one looks at it.

I agree, most years, it's just an interest bet for me, the Cup throws up so many surprises and contenders are really half the field. Looking at the form last night about half of them have a good chance. It's who survives the war of attrition.
I'll be looking at Cox Plate, Geelong Cup winners or close up.

I was on Mount Athos last year, one of a couple, and it was a big run.
At one point thought it was a real chance, but I also think it had it's chance.

Some interesting gear changes for the Cup

Green Moon – Blinkers first time
Fiorente - Lugging Bit first time,,Standard Bit off first time
Mourayan - Blinkers off again
Tres Blue - Tongue Control & Lugging Bit first time,,Tongue Tie off first time

Haven't been here for 12 months and haven't had much of a bet in that time really mostly due to work simply don't like betting on something I can't watch. This is the toughest edition of this race I have ever seen very few in the race that you can put a line through.

I am going to go with these

4. #17 Voleuse De Couers
5. #14 Masked Marvel

I do like Brown Panther a lot if he can repeat his effort at goodwood then he is a huge shot to win this race I backed him at $41 a couple of weeks ago so I am happy where I am there. Lloyd has a huge shot to win this race Mourayan is probably the only one he has you would have a tough time making a case for if they run this race along at a real good tempo then Masked Marvel will be right there in the finish as will Sea Moon.
