Computer problem (Snap do)

Calling Computer Buffs: I'm still having trouble with this Snap Do thingo, if I get the latest version of Norton and run it in safe mode: is that likely to get rid of it?

No idea what snap do is but usually when i get virus issues I try 3 things in this order:

Malwarebytes scan - Free spyware/virus scanner
Spybot Search & Destroy scan - Free spyware/virus scanner

If still having issues I then google it and read through some forums but generally those first 2 should do the trick.

thanks evajb001, problem is Snap Do Hijacks the browser, and as Malware & Spybot are not on the computer, can't do that.

No it will not, all it will do is slow down an old laptop.

You need to follow the instructions in the link on the other thread you started.
And never install two versions of antivirus software on the same computer.

party if you can't network the two comps, put malwarebytes and spybot on a USB stick and use the stick to install them

Chrome, thanks I've saved $70 there then! I can't remember when he bought the Lap Top but not that long ago. I take it youre not a fan of Norton?

Blackdog1, yeah tried that but it didn't install properly, I might have another go.

Shaun, no will do that right now.

party, I use Avast! Free Antivirus. I've gotta say it's the bet I've ever used...

Chrome Prince 21st October 2014 09:39 PM

Second that advice.

Third that, if you wanted to pay, they have a paid version.

Try COMODO Internet Security products, their forum is informative to.
Their web browser ( COMODO DRAGON ) is way cool, less clutter and easy to get to in-built security features.

They also have a revamped Firefox web browser according to their specs. called IceDragon.

IceDragon: A faster, more secure version of Firefox

The name is a derivative of the real Komodo Dragon

Registry

The best is to edit the key in your registry file, by deleting or adding something to the line, that stops it running and loading
