(4) Fields of Omagh to win, of course.
(13) Johar, strong chance from the USA. Smart winner Santa Anita Breeder’s Cup over 2400m in good time. (14) Islington, smart filly from the emerald isle. Good winner over this distance in the York Oaks in August. (7) Tsurumaru Boy very consistent Japanese horse, expect will be motoring home at the finish. |
Looks like a wet track for today, so if you fancy any with wet track form, go for it
From memory Fields of Omagh has been placed in slow going at least a couple of times. _________________ May the luck of the Irish be with you! [ This Message was edited by: Paddy on 2003-11-30 07:08 ] |
It seems that Japanese contenders (8) Neo Universe, (10) Thats the Plenty & (11) Active Bio can all handle a wet surface.

My tips (without any confidence) are
(8) Neo Universe, (9) Ange Gabriel, (5) Symboli Kris S and (10) That's the Plenty. I’ve left out FOO, conditions against him, however hopes he runs a bold race. _________________ All the best from the West Sandgroper  [ This Message was edited by: Sandgroper on 2003-11-30 11:47 ] |

JAPAN CUP Tips for Sunday 30 November 2003 at 5.25pm (AEDT) for the Friedman Family. Obviously we are patriotic enough to select Fields of Omagh to win the Japan Cup today, and we have selected two others that we feel can fill the placings. In Japan, Fields Of Omagh is 12/1, but in Australia it is the hot favourite. In Japan, the 2 favourites are #5 Symboli Kris (4/1) and #14 Islington (9/2). #4 Fields Of Omagh (currently 12/1) #9 Ange Gabriel (currently 6/1) #13 Johar (currently 5/1) Cheers, Martin ... |
Agree with Sandgroper, big task for Fields Of Omagh, will include in my multiples.
I like (10) That's The Plenty, from (14) Islington, (15) Slew Valley & (5) Symboli Kris S |
Hey guys didn't get a chance to post on here before the race but I took a 4 horse Quinella with the 1,10,7 and 16
Got $160 out of it anyway got some back for an over all ordinary weekend punting wise for me. |

Good onya Raw Instinct, we'll claim a claytons tri in your honour  |
Anyone foolish enough to take the way unders of FOO??
Come on own up...... |
If anyone backed FOO at those odds they have got rocks in their head ( patriotic or not )
How easy was the TRI!!!!!!!! Check Sandgropers LOCAL odds. TRI was in first four favs. Looks like LOCAL knowledge triumphs again. Works nearly everytime  Cheers |
Can anyone give a valid reason for taking this horse to Japan other than the big money on offer?Sure,he's a better than average horse, winning a Cox Plate and running Northerly to a head in a Caulfield Cup proves that, but world class?? After such a long layoff,I can only assume that connections got carried away with the Cpx Platr win,and let GREED take precedence over rational thought. The long trip, quarantine, settling in period etc.and then to come up at $5 on the tote? Who would be crazy enough to take those odds when it was $40 in Japan? Please explain??

With $3.5 MILLION dollars prizemoney if it had won do you need another reason???? Sure it was an outsider but I reckon for that money I would have a go! Not sure how much the trip would cost as I presume since FOO was invited to run there would have been some appearance money to help offset the trip costs? and then to come up at $5 on the tote? Who would be crazy enough to take those odds when it was $40 in Japan? Please explain?? Obviously a lot of "mugs" were more than happy with the odds on offer otherwise it wouldn't have been those odds - that is how the tote works! Just reinforces my belief that most punters deserve to lose because they are too stupid to assess these things rationally. |
Just curiosity, but where were the market prices shown from Japan totes, to view the comaprison ?
Was there a web page ? |
Puntz I did hear them mention just before the race that FOO was 35-1 in the Japan Market that was all I heard though.
