what are your thought on alinghi's run saturday peoples. ive had very high expectations of alinghi. got on him with colin tidy at 3.25 a month or so back. thought he would of reeled em in easily. wasnt a dream run but champions deal with what comes to them as lonhro proved in the australian cup. ill forgive him on that run naturally but im interested to hear what all yall think.
cheers staunched |
champions?....thats where you get it wrong...he may be a good horse but has a long way to go to becomeing a champion
|
hehe yea i know exactly what your saying. but something about alinghi gives me that feeling. he's got a long way to go before he earns champion status no doubt. but now lonhro's done with im hoping he'll be the one to follow. maybe not though. we'll soon see.

To staunched and Shaun,
Seems that its escaped your notice....Alinghi is a she not a he. |
Well i hope i only ever make that mistake with horses...lol

hahaha yep me too shaun. to be honest i should take more notice of gender. usually i focus on times, consistency, excelleration and bloodlines but ive only started taking it seriously these last 2 years. ive got a lot to learn no doubt. i wish i studied harder as a kid. a mates a jockey (who ill keep disclosed for now)and a few friends own horses. i use to just back anything basically. every horse my mate rode (as he cant tip a winner to save his life). the trainers tell him everythings a chance pretty much to keep him trying. i use to like certain trainers, jocks etc and just back them. pssssssst. ive been punting on the horsey's just over a decade now and its taken me untill this year to stop betting on provincials. shucks. ive finally squashed the urge to simply punt for the hell of it without studying properly. now im focussing on a couple of bets a week. class horses and city meetings only. studying hard friday nights is bringing me way better results. allthough last weekend was a fizza. backed alinghi naturally and makybe diva. didnt get on lonhro early enuff. it was 1.20 for the win ten or so minutes b4 the race here on the tote so i left it alone. ive won a bit off old ro over the last 2 years so its all good. anyways enuff rambling. im sure none of you could give a flying ********. haha.
anyways happy punting peoples |
Hey all.....now I remember a long time back in a post about Lonhro..."champion or not", there's a champ for ya guys!!!!!!!
LONG LIVE THE KING IN GREEN PASTURES...LOL And  to all those who doubted him! [ This Message was edited by: mystic on 2004-04-05 17:06 ] |
yea theres been a few articles about whether lonhro's a champ or not. down here in melbourne they quite often refuse to give ye old ro the respect it deserves. i read an article lately saying that a true champion has to win 2 major races and that the australian cup was the only one that ro won. as far as im concerned nearly 6 million in prizemoney, a strikerate from hell and 11 group 1's is enuff to earn his stripes. i thought he was a lil unlucky in the cox. its not your average bear thats for sure. ive been glad to of witnessed his presence thats for sure. am i the only one that hopes alinghi might go on and be a champ? hehe anybody!
|
Yeah .You,d have to be a mathematically uneducated gambler not to give him his due.
Cheers. darky. |
Staunched its hard not to have won on lohnro with a strikerate like that. Who is the expert who brought in the criteria for being a champion, surely that decision must rest with the individual.
Cheers ED |
yea i agree ed. good point, who decides the criteria of a champ. the article i read was in best bets a month or so back. cant remember who wrote it. ive heard they're thinking of breeding him with sunline. um pity ill be 80 before i could afford a tiny share of one. hehe
|
i remember reading about a horse that won 5 races in 14 days....now thats a champ
|
hehe now thats a great effort. were they provincials or city meetings? a friend was telling me about a trainer here in vic that doesnt really spell his horses. short breaks but no real spells. anyone know who that is. cant remember his name. its not marconi is it?

Staunched don't give up on Alinghi she is top class no doubt. Her run was a bottler in the slipper. I posted my asessment under the slipper heading before the race. Had her on top of my market but due to the likely run she was going to get had her a 94 chance (posted 74 but actually worked out to be 94)and did not back her as she was unders. Pricing or assessing value is just as important as picking winners if you are serious about winning long term.
|
cheers for the feedback legion. knew i wasnt alone. the run in the diamond was great to witness. 4 starts/1.3 million. allready the owners champ anyways. im hanging for fixed odds to open on the inglis. hope i can get something half decent.
|
Alinghi ran the fastest final sectionals in the Slipper. If you reverse the draw, you reverse the result.
|
yea cant wait to see her at her best. theres a lot more to come.
