Couldn't believe it this morning when i heard the cowboys were going up favourites against the knights @ $1.80, when morrison was ruled out for the year, norton [ although named] will surley be ruled out, and bowman and bowen in s.o.o, the knights with kennedy and o'davis back, plus winning 9/11. THERE OUTSIDERS??

Floydyboy 10th June 2004 09:17 AM

OK what is it that Im missing ....today theyre out to $2.10... Just looked at the teams ...Seems to me Newcastle has been depleted ....But the Cowboys seem worse off

Floydyboy 10th June 2004 02:05 PM

What can ya tell me about the Knights Goldmember youre a local whats the goss ...I want to lump on at that price

goldmember 10th June 2004 02:11 PM

Heard nothing so far, got me puzzled, maybe there banking on BUDERUS being a big loss, we get a knights report around 5.30pm every afternoon, so i'll let you know if there's any news then, maybe the punters know something, it happened when they kept unloading on manly and they got the cash

Floydyboy 10th June 2004 02:22 PM

Yeah well youll be wasting tour time for my benifit I just took the $2.10 and had a whack at them.I looked at the teams again ....Odavis Kennedy K.Gidley Perry if there isnt enough talent there to give them some direction Im a bad judge(and maybe that will be proven correct)but i just cant see them being beaten

goldmember 10th June 2004 02:43 PM

They have won 3/5 up there and A. Johns was steering them around the park, in the 1st clash last year [R22]they led 60-6, then they rested him and the cowboys ran in 3 quick try's. He was out of the next game[R26]and then the knights struggled to beat them at home, maybe they fancy themselves against the knights, at home, without him.

Floydyboy 10th June 2004 06:12 PM

Yeah but did they have there main attack weapons playing s.o.o , Sorry but i just cant see it... like i said though ....too late for me the money's on CARN THE KNIGHTS ..Im a Knights fan I lived at Bateau Bay before I moved up here in 2001

Mr J 10th June 2004 06:15 PM

Only done tomorrows game, my system has the dragons winning by a few points, so I'm taking them at over even money.

Floydyboy 10th June 2004 08:39 PM

Hey Goldmember (or anybody)
How long has this Kennedy thing been in the wind

Desi 11th June 2004 02:07 AM

Hey guys,
Have been out with the flu and coming on top of a bad betting weekend...I probably needed a good rest LOL!

Whats been happening with the Management warnings and moderator interventions!!!!

Anyway, another interesting weekend (as always around Origin time)...there are always upsets and I cant see that changing this weekend...

I see that BK isn't playing for the Knights against the Cowboys...going to be a close one but Newcastle shouldn't have lost last week and should be fired up to taking this one against the Cowboys (who will put on a fight but just lack the class required with their Maroon reps missing).

The Dragons to sneak in against the depleted Panthers, Storm to beat a gallant Rabbitohs side (will be close initially before the Storm draw away) and the Raiders to beat an in form Sharks at home...Cronulla will miss Stevens more than their halfback Kimmorley at Canberra.

I thought that luck and Hindmarsh (again) played a big part in the Eels win against Newcastle...there will be no Nathan and their luck may run out against an improving Sea Eagles team...should be a high scoring affair given the poor line defence on both sides.

As for the Warriors, they will need more than muscle to beat a strongly defensive and fit West Tigers team. If Jones continues his form (however) at Christchurch then they will score enough against Wests who will miss Marshall and Prince.

Will be taking the Knights, Dragons and Manly on line bets...go the Maroons! Good luck guys for the weekends...

Hey Sports...see you have been doing well in the horse picks mate...good on ya!!!

Anyone got any bolters for the Euro 2004????

Mr J 11th June 2004 08:30 AM

Well guys I took the dragons at 2.02 at pinnacle. When I checked this morning they were 1.95. Now they're 1.87.

rabbitz 11th June 2004 09:59 AM

Newcastle +9.5
Canberra -3.5
Kangaroos(AFL) +31.5
Dividend $3.15
I think its close to a sure thing

rabbitz 11th June 2004 10:41 AM

Roll your own has closed on Canberra raiders
Sport odds current start is -10.5=$1.90
h2h raiders in to $1.30 from $1.36
Cheers

Mr J 11th June 2004 11:38 AM

Ok got the rest of my NRL predictions.

Stg 2.02
cron +8.5
new 2.13
sth +13
eels -2.5
west +2

I have St George winning it by 3, so better than even money was great value in my eyes.

I totally agree about the Knights Goldmember. I have them winning it by 2 points, so better than 2.10 was a steal!!

I think the spread is generally good for the raiders-sharks, I have the sharks covering by less than a point but at 2.10 there's value IMO.

I have the Eels getting home by just over a converted try, so the -2.5 was good for me.

Now to the tigers. I actually have them winning by 2, and the fact they are a home dog is comforting. +2? Yes please.

Last of all, Souths. My system actually has them as a winner by one point!!! +13 gives alot of room for error.

This week my system has predicted 4 of the 6 dogs to win outright. Let's see how it goes.

goldmember 11th June 2004 12:17 PM

Think stgeorge will win, have the wood on penrith and they seem to get up when there under strentgh, fall short when they are expected to win, plus heard there is a virus gone through the panthers camp.

Hmmm, raiders are very average team, with davico and o'hara back, playing at home and kimmorely out for the sharks, they will probably get away with it, maybe.

Knights/cowboys, lot of players out and a few playing injured, cant pick it,50/50.the knights will rely on o'davis and k. gidley, his inexperience or rush of blood cost them last week against the eels.

Storm - to many match winners in their team, dont know what souths are going to do.

Eels originally, great record over manly, but losing witt and no hindmarch, 50/50.

W/tigers giving up a home game to play in christchurch might bring them undone, the warriors playing in NZ 2 weeks running might get them over the line.

goldmember 11th June 2004 01:02 PM

Looking at the starts for each team so far this year:

-RAIDERS [9] WON 2,LOST 7
+SHARKS [8]WON 6,LOST 2

Mr J 11th June 2004 01:04 PM

Whoops. I had the Tigers at home...

Why would they do this? How can they call it a home game? Amazing.

Counting this as a home game for the Warriors I have NZ by 5.

This isn't very fair, it's the same as giving them a few extra home games each seasons.

goldmember 11th June 2004 01:09 PM

Maybe trying to emmulate the bulldogs, who have had a lot of success over there, or trying to get more supporters and monetary gain.

Mr J 11th June 2004 01:12 PM

How is crowd support over there? How does travel effect the dogs?

Should I rewrite it as an away game for the tigers? I can't how how they could have an advantage there.

I have the chance to back the warriors for a sure profit.

goldmember 11th June 2004 01:18 PM

I dont know about the tigers , but the bulldogs[ high profile team]have plenty of support over there, and the warriors games are normally we supported. The travel doesn't seem to worry them, or any other team , not sure how you would write it up , but it will go down in the books as a home game for the tigers.

goldmember 11th June 2004 01:27 PM

Travelling interstate doesn't come into the league like it does in the AFL or SUPER 12'S for sydney based teams, as a maximum of 4 games travelling, townville, bris,nz and melb,[and then not all teams do that],as it does for broncos, cowboys, storm and warriors who are away every 2nd week.

[ This Message was edited by: goldmember on 2004-06-11 14:28 ]

Mr J 11th June 2004 01:41 PM

Even if the warriors don't have an advantage, I can't see how the tigers can.

Both teams travelling from Aus, so I don't think travel will be a factor (not that it's anything like Super 12s anyway). Climate probally won't be a factor, winter days/nights aren't exactly warm in Sydney either. While crowd does have an influence, it is isn't large unless it's an important game for the home team.

I think it'd be best to judge this as a neutral game? Still says tigers +2 at better than even money, just not as convincingly.

goldmember 11th June 2004 01:53 PM

I'd say neutral would ge a good call, but the warriors aren't travelling from aust, also s.sattler, probably the tigers best defender,is in doubt for the game, better to get the start than give it when your travelling away though.

Desi 12th June 2004 11:58 AM

The Warriors v Wests game is in Christchurch (the heart of South Island rugby) and she's ************ cold down there...can't see it being any advantage to the Tigers or the Warriors for that matter as league is not big in the South and whilst the Warriors have lost Seuseu, Meli and Faumuina...the Tigers are without their halves Prince and Marshall (that lessens their attacking options considerably).

Still believe Jones is the key for the Warriors, he is back at half and attacking the line with more confidence...it will be important to gain an early lead in this one.

Reckon the Tigers are mad to pass up the opportunity for a home game...although the Doggies have always fared well in their travels to Wellington.

goldmember 12th June 2004 12:29 PM

Desi, cracked under the pressure, said no football bets this weekend, couldn't help it, took stgeorge try @ $2.40 as only bet so far, might reinvest the winnings on similar options with no h2h bets.

goldmember 12th June 2004 12:34 PM

Raiders should win by default now, with kimmorely, stevens, peachy and vagna out.
Knights are favoured now with t.williams t.norton ruled out

goldmember 12th June 2004 01:17 PM

Only 2 little wagers and i'll sit back and watch all games:

S. BELL h2h [hookey]$2.80
COWBOYS GOAL $6.50

I think you made a spelling mistake there G/M.You see,we're not all infallible.

Cheers Mo.

Floydyboy 12th June 2004 07:46 PM

Well win lose or draw IVE HAD ENOUGH Ive put my money down and this refs caning Newcastle from one end of the park to the other ... No More for me ..Its been fun..... thanks for the input fellas ....Good Night

sportznut 12th June 2004 08:16 PM

Looks like the new Coach theory is working again for Souths! Wierd.

goldmember 12th June 2004 08:34 PM

souths, oh my god, now i dont have to sit through THAT game now i know they won, as for the cowboys game you can't blame the ref for all the rubbish the knights went on with and woolnough should get a cuople of weeks for the cheap shot right across the face. It was an ordinary 1st half and the only thing that kept waking me up was the trys from the cowboys every now and then

goldmember 12th June 2004 08:50 PM

w/bulldogs and souths, are there going to be more upsets tomorrow. Glad i didn't back any teams this week, just pts scored:

stgeorge try $2.40 won
s.bell h2h $2.80 won
cowboys goal $6.50 lost

2/3 aint bad , now i'll sit back and watch tomorrow's games, not game to give any back to them now, i know some results have stuffed a lot of punters bets this week, thats why , when i looked at this round earlier in the week, i was going to sit this one out until next week, i think we can a few bucks next week.

cheers

goldmember 12th June 2004 08:57 PM

Top pick mr J, souths by 1 , very close , couldn't back them but they had played the storm there twice for 1 easy win , still ....

Floydyboy 12th June 2004 08:57 PM

No sour grapes here.... ya pay your money you take your chances .....as I wrote that last thread he let the cowboys away with a dubious try stolen from a tackle ...it broke their back ..What was pen count at half time ....Im just watching some vision from the souths match ,there must be all of 250 people there ....Coach theory ?? Maybe the Craigie theory .Good luck tomorrow fellas .Ill play some golf I think ..much cheaper

goldmember 12th June 2004 09:01 PM

Flodyboy,it was 6-2 but they were deserving penalty's though. it was a mistakeathon,a dropathon, lucky it wasn't played at marathon LOL.

sportznut 12th June 2004 09:34 PM

1 out of 2 for my Home Dog system tonight. I wasn't all that confident about Souths yet they got up and didn't even need the 13.5 start. Meanwhile, I was reasonably confident about Essendon with 8.5 start and they got smashed!

goldmember 12th June 2004 09:39 PM

sportz, thought the lions play the dome well, but i think i heard somewhere they play the m.c.g better, is that right

Desi 13th June 2004 02:05 AM

Gold,
Saw the Souths game and thought the Storm blew this game along with a few sus referee and video ref decisions...which is good cos next week Souths will be at false odds...wonder who they are playing. As for the Knights, add them to the stay away from list (Parra, Warriors, Sharks and whoever the other team is). Hoping Manly will come close and OK might have a little bet with the Warriors who for once are not favourites in NZ...(always line bets for me)...Good luck guys...hows those Western Bulldogs!!???

Desi 13th June 2004 02:11 AM

Oops, Warriors are the favourites $1.75 in the H2H...have to rethink that one...any good value out there guys?
