Have taken a big multi for a bit of interest in the tennis.
Federer to beat Costa, Martin to beat Santaro, Agassi to beat Ginepri, Moya to defeat Baker, Rusedski to beat Saulnier, Fish to beat Ferrer, Bjorkman to beat Berlych, Grosgen to beat Patience, Hewitt to beat Ferreira and Roddick to beat Jenkins for $100 @15-1.
Only tough ones should be Martin, Rusedski and Bjorkman.

Does anyone give Lleyton and Agassi a hope of beating Federer or Roddick?

sportznut 30th August 2004 12:30 PM

They're definitely the top 4 chances. I'll have to go take a look at the draw and get back to you on that one. The Olympic Games has taken all the publicity away from the Tennis this year and I'd nearly forgotten all about it.

sportznut 30th August 2004 04:58 PM

Men's:
Roger Federer is a very deserving favourite. He shouldn't really have any major problems in his half of the draw except for a possible 1/4 final against Agassi. I really think he should have Agassi's measure though. Hewitt has a pretty good draw and if he continues with his current good form, he has a shot of at least making the semis. Roddick's draw is a bit tougher I feel and his form is not brilliant at the moment. Safin is in his part of the draw and he also has an outside chance of winning here.

Women's:
Justine Henin-Hardenne deserves to be favourite and she has an okay draw. Serena Williams has a great draw, and she must also be one of the main chances. Also think that Davenport and Mauresmo are good chances of at least reaching the semis. Davenport is in great form at the moment and Mauresmo has a good draw.

Hi guys,

AGASSI beat GINEPRI
HENMAN beat KARLOVIC
FERRERO beat ZIB
NALBANDIAN beat VAN SCHEPPINGEN
HEWITT beat FERREIRA
FERRERO beat ZIB

Pretty straight forward first round multi. Dangers are NALBANDIAN & AGASSI (Ginepri has had a massive build up to the OPEN). I can't really see HENMAN dropping his first round.

(I took your multi GOLDMEMBER, looks good on paper  Cheers).

Regards,

Glen.

Are you talking about the overall winner or just the first round?

mug punta 1st September 2004 01:49 PM

I've taken another multi and im after a bit of advice from you wise punters out there.
If Nalbandian and Hewitt win their rd 1 clashes I collect $560 including my initial outlay of $210.
I can't really see either losing but would other punters take a small saver on Hewitt with Nalbandians opponent and vice versa with Hewitts opponent and Nalbandian. If both lose that would be unbelievable and I would wear that on the chin

goldmember 1st September 2004 02:16 PM

Muggi, Hewitt should win in straight sets but i'm not sure about Nalbandian as when i'm on him he gets rolled[dont worry i'm not on him]but ive never heard of Scheppingen.

Also got a nice multi still to go,had

HENMAN won
SRICHAPHAN won
ENQIVST won
GROSGEAN
HEWITT

thought the safin /enqvist was a 50/50 game and couldnt believe safin was so short.

Chuck 1st September 2004 06:28 PM

Yes, strange as it may seem, i have backed Fish and Dent to win...i also had smaller bets on Rafael Nadal, Nikolay davidenko and Joachim Johannson, and a saver on Federer

Chuck

Have taken a multi in tonights matches

KIEFER to beat henman
AGASSI to beat sargsian
HRBARTY to beat rochus
FEDERER to beat pavel
Odds - $2.77. Should go pretty close.

Will also back Lindsay Devenport to beat Venus Williams and to win the whole thing. She is in red hot form

goldmember 6th September 2004 05:18 PM

Watched the hewitt game this morning and he is white hot,and if everything goes as planned he'll meet roddick in the semis, which will the match of the open.

Floydyboy 7th September 2004 10:20 AM

In the womens I favour a
Capriati/Allez Justine Quinella
I think Jennifers paying about 3.60 at the mo so im gunna throw a few dollars in that direction to start with .Ive Just got the feelin that Smokin Joe might self destruct

Floydyboy 7th September 2004 12:38 PM

well it looks like bye bye Justine .
Didnt even get a chance to put a quinnella on

Floydyboy 8th September 2004 11:51 AM

well i got the bikkies but i feel like a thief (no i dont ) some 'orrible line calls against serena

mug punta 8th September 2004 12:19 PM

Took a multi with capriatti, johansson, hewitt and if Roddick gets the chockies a tidy collect is coming my way.
Was she a bit lucky to beat Serena FB?

Floydyboy 8th September 2004 12:49 PM

She deserved to win but it was close with some long rallies and Capriati was gritty throught out and kept her cool I think the stats will show that serena had a lot more unforced errors but that was the case in the first set yet she won it

Chuck 8th September 2004 04:57 PM

Well, i'm down to my last pick Joachim Johannson, and if he wins the tournament i should be in for a big collect
Chuck

sportznut 8th September 2004 08:24 PM

That's a mighty big IF. Didn't you have a bet on Federer as well?

One of those line calls was an absolute shocker! It wasn't even on the outside of the line, it was on the inside of the line and called out!!! Not sad to see her go though. At least we won't have to look at those disgraceful outfits. Somebody really needs to tell her she looks horrid in them.

Had a small bet on Davenport pre-tournament. Starting to wish I'd had more on.

Floydyboy 8th September 2004 10:13 PM

Once again Im on the other side of the fence Im not a serena fan but Im not one to be critical of what they wear If the tournament organisers set or dont set a dress code is up to them (In saying that she does look terrible well un tennislike at least)but Im sorry Let em wear what they will .
I was sitting watching that match the commentators from australia were sitting there criticising the way Old man williams was training them and he should be doing this and that an bla bla .Thats what gets me snarky who are they to tell people how when or where they should play etc then half an hour later they were giving it to roddick about his shirt for christ sake I suppose I find those things on the petty side .Who cares what he was wearing He coulda been wearing a ************ gorilla suit and his oppo still woulda been standing there watching the balls fly past him.I admire the wiiliams because they live in a fishbowl and because of their flamboyance they have ruffled a lot of feathers .Yet theyre always civil and have a laugh with the press >>the debacle at wimbledon was one thing and then that umpire today overuled on the call on the other side of the court .If it was mcenroe(who I a was/ am a fan of)would still be standing there now until he got it over turned .She had her say and walked away .what bothered me was I had my money on she was starting to self destruct as i thought might happen (with Capriatis help ) then she got angry and started grunting harder I thought it was going to spur her on haha .
Any way Im just gunna pull Trigger over to rail here and hop down ...Jeez the high horses have got long legs

Chuck 9th September 2004 05:21 PM

Yes, sportz i did back Federer, but if he wins i only get a tiny collect...

goldmember 10th September 2004 11:55 AM

watching the Roddick - Johansson game on fox and Roddick is struggling,

mug punta 10th September 2004 12:02 PM

Just broke him in the 3rd set. It aint all over YET!!

goldmember 10th September 2004 12:15 PM

yeah he just won the 3rd set, he's steppin up the pace and he's got the momentum

mug punta 10th September 2004 12:28 PM

I reckon this ones going to five!!
Just broke him in the 4th

goldmember 10th September 2004 12:44 PM

just gone to the 5th now and the way he's going it'll be over in 15 min !

goldmember 10th September 2004 12:53 PM

I reckon the've swapped shirts after 2 sets, cause roddick didnt have a clue up until then and now johansson has done a sally robbins ! roddick down 15-30 and hit 3 aces

Floydyboy 10th September 2004 01:10 PM

Im watching it too
shes a bit folkloric our sally
I woulda thrown her in the water

goldmember 10th September 2004 01:17 PM

Roddick startin to lose his cool, gunna go down to the wire now!

goldmember 10th September 2004 01:27 PM

NO MORE RODDICK, BYE BYE

sportznut 10th September 2004 01:31 PM

You're kidding! Can't believe it! Geez, Chuck's bet on Johannson is still alive.

Bet there were some aces in that match.

Floydyboy 10th September 2004 01:36 PM

believe it!!!
I dont think hell beat hewitt but

Floydyboy 10th September 2004 01:40 PM

only 64 aces
lol
rod 34
joh 30

goldmember 10th September 2004 01:43 PM

roddick couldnt handle johansson's serve early on, but hewitt is probably the best returner in tennis, so it will be a great game to watch, think hewitt will win, wonder who sis will be going for ? is blood thicker than water?

thought the $1.35 for federer and $1.07 for roddick were under the odds so i didnt have a bet.LUCKILY.

All the 'experts' were saying over a week ago that a Hewitt/Roddick semi was just about a certainty. Funny that. Johannson's VERY impressive. I've backed him a few times in this tournament but I thought Roddick would be just a bit too good today. Hewitt's been brilliant. He'd be favoured but he's no good thing.

It's looking like Federer to me, which is pretty much what I thought 2 weeks ago.
