Big fan of soccer[football]
I like Portsmouth chances against Villa.
scoreline will be 2-1 Yakubu will open the scoring before half-time

Chelsea V Everton
A great chance for some odds with a Everton upset or even a draw.1-1

Norwich should come away with a home win against Blackburn. 1-0

Southampton struck an unlikely 2-2 draw against Aresnal and will be looking to defeat WBA who lost 4-1 to chelsea. Southampton should win this match 1-0

The spurs should crush the defense of charlton. 3-0 Defoe scoring a double

Andy Johnson at one end at Henry at the other. Arsenal who are *out-of-form* come up against Palace. Arsenal will go in as hot favourites. But dont expect a clean sheet. 4-1

Middlesbrough v Bolton
Looks like a goal fest draw 2-2

Newcastle v Fulham
nice win for Newcastle coming up. 2-0
Bellamy will open scoring around 30th minute

Manchester Utd v Manchester City
1-1 draw. Both teams played poorly last match.

Floydyboy 3rd November 2004 01:54 PM

On face value and at current prices I like
Liverpool
Norwich
Chelsea
Arsenal
Newcastle(although they are a bit short for my liking )
AND leave me out of the rest
This may all change by the weekend but thats how I see it at the mo.....

knowledge 3rd November 2004 05:51 PM

Everton are good at putting away below par teams but against Chelsea or Arsenal they don't stand a chance. Chelsea are really starting to play some good football as well.

Floydyboy 5th November 2004 08:43 PM

here ya go Mr K thyre in the thread above but at this stage Arsenal for my main bet (if over 1.40) which they are at the mo

knowledge 5th November 2004 09:25 PM

yep Arsenal are a good bet but I like the look of over 2.5 goals at $1.68 in that match. Just has goals written all over it for me. Only the two Manchester clubs have played Arsenal in games with under 3 goals.

Also like the look of Chelsea to beat Everton, Liverpool, Southampton, Newcastle and Man U.

thebookie 6th November 2004 01:21 PM

I'll repeat, I know nothing about soccer, but, the under 2.5 in the Villa game looks ok. I also like Villa for the win and Arsenal(from the limited soccer I have seen)

(And yes, I know, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing)

blackpantha 6th November 2004 01:31 PM

I'll be staking on Chelsea and Liverpool in the EPL

In other leagues:
Barcelona to beat Deportivo
Juventus to beat Reggina
AC Milan to beat Roma

PS - If anyone is taking any multis this
weekend consider adding Australia to beat
Scotland @ $1.07 into it for some extra value (Rugby Union)

knowledge 6th November 2004 01:32 PM

you may claim to know little about this sport but I agree with your thoughts. Aston Villa should beat Portsmouth because they are due for a win and Portsmouth is due for a loss. Not betting on match result for this one though...

for some reason, the "lunch time kick off" games in the EPL generally have under 2.5 goals. I expect this game to continue the run.

Floydyboy 6th November 2004 03:38 PM

SCOOOZI Please MR BP Did you take that Australia @1.33 Cricket yesterday I hope all my negativity detered you.........I dont do $1.07
I like to lay at those prices but

Floydyboy 6th November 2004 03:53 PM

Well at the mo I look like backing
Liverpool all up The ******** :smile:To finish my Multi
BBS

Oaksnaf 6th November 2004 03:58 PM

Wonder how Liverpool will go without Cisse who looked like getting into some form. Garcia is more than likely the best player on form at the moment and taking the premier league by storm. Baros will be a great lone striker.

Liverpool should keep a clean sheet and like their chances at a 2-0 or 3-0 win with baros atleast scoring 1.

knowledge 6th November 2004 04:37 PM

Chelsea v Everton

It all seems too good to be true for Chelsea. While Arsenal and Manchester United's latest dull-as-dishwater public squabble rumbles on, Chelsea have done their talking on the pitch. In all competitions they've won eight of their last nine matches, keeping six clean sheets in the process. With that in mind, Chelsea winning to nil looks good value at odds-against. Everton deserve enormous credit for their efforts this season but although their away form looks hugely impressive on paper, they've played some weak sides and their 0-0 draw at Old Trafford came at a time when Manchester United were struggling. Taking on an in-form Chelsea at Stamford Bridge is by far their hardest task of the season and the gulf in class should be more than apparent. Go for a decisive home win.

Floydyboy 7th November 2004 09:10 AM

What a shocker went to bed half time arsenal couldnt keep my eyes open thought id wake up with my multi intact I repeat what a shocker ah well back to the drawing board

Oaksnaf 8th November 2004 06:53 AM

And the shockers kept on coming. Fulham 4 Def 1 Newcastly.

Both Man's drew.
Bolton and Borough drew 1-1 with injury time goal for borough.

A weekend for the underdogs.

knowledge 8th November 2004 09:45 AM

I think there is a psychological element which hasn't been addressed. Each of the teams that were 'hot' favourites and didn't win this weekend have all suffered defeats before, within the last 7 days.

Man U - against Portsmouth last weekend
Arsenal - haven't won since losing to Man U
Newcastle - lost to Bolton
AC Milan - lost to Barca
Lazio - lost to Middlesbrough

In future I think we should wait for the teams to bounce back, then start betting on them. Morale plays a huge role in a team's results, if a team is coming off a loss then it's likely they need a small period to bounce back. Such as I think Arsenal is.

As for Man U, betting on them is stupid. They always fail to get the results and it's not worth risking it any more. 1.35 for a win? That's stupid, they didn't even score.

It might be something to consider.

sparkus8 8th November 2004 01:02 PM

For these big teams playing in Europe there is probably a bit of a let down as well when they come back to play in their home leagues. In the premier league only Chelsea was able to back up and win, the other five teams either drew or lost. The same thing also happened in Italy. Maybe the best thing to do is either stay away when teams are backing up from Europe or back their opponent with a 1/2 goal start - if anyone did that this weekend they would of cleaned up!!!

Church22 8th November 2004 02:46 PM

What about tomorrows game..LEICESTER-COVENTRY does anyone want to add there thoughts

Floydyboy 9th November 2004 06:48 AM

Yep leicester leading 2-0 at half time

Oaksnaf 11th November 2004 05:47 PM

I will take Draw/Man City/Everton treble at 16-1

The Draw being between Charlton and Norwich.

knowledge 13th November 2004 12:38 AM

Over 2.5 goals in Tottenham-Arsenal.
Liverpool.
Man City.
Chelsea.

thebookie 13th November 2004 04:09 PM

I like the Over in the Arsenal game too.

As well as the win for Arsenal, but, they haven't won there since 99 I don't think?

knowledge 13th November 2004 08:06 PM

novelty bet...
DRAW-MANCITY-EVERTON
(draw - charlton-norwich)

1olbaid1 13th November 2004 08:37 PM

I like:

Bolton WIN over Aston Villa.

Villa haven't won away yet and Bolton's home record is good.
Villa's last game, while a good win, was played against a very poor Portsmouth team.

At evens, I think there decent value.

Also

Ipswich WIN over Leeds.

Ipswich have been in great form and their home form is great.
Leeds came of a good win against Wigan but i can't see them winning like that again.

Multiples:

Wolves/Bolton/Ipswich Paying $7.58 for a $1

Northerly 13th November 2004 09:53 PM

Agree about Bolton but you have to get an account with Betfair. Bolton to win are paying $2.40 less commission = $2.33.
Those price differences can be the difference between winning and losing come the end of the year.

And 'K'Man (hope you don't mind being called that after the great Seinfeld character Kramer) there are no such things as novelty bets. Their the ones that at the end of the year added up will probably show the worst ROI. (I'm guilty of them too, and they are my worst results this year).
I don't know how much you bet but you seem to have a lot of picks and a lot of them are short prices. You seem to know what your talking about (even though you're having a self confessed bad trot) so you should concentrate on betting on situations that are good value.
Like your pick for +2.5 goals Tott/Ars, at least that's paying $2.12 on BF and not some of the $1.30-$1.40 chances I've seen you post.

I have to commend you for putting your tips up, or even your comments because I always make a point of reading your Soccer comments. Had a few that have helped me, as I don't follow the soccer that much but I like studying the stats to find betting situations.

Thanks

knowledge 13th November 2004 10:07 PM

You're welcome. I have backed the over 2.5 goals because I've read that new manager of Tottenham, Martin Jol, plays a very attacking game so this could indicate that..

1. Tottenham will score.
2. They will be left exposed at the back; Arsenal are renowned for exploiting defences like this.

the match has started.. let's hope there will be some goals soon. Tottenham are playing very attack-minded football so far. Seem to be controlling possession but only 5 mins gone...

good luck.

Northerly 13th November 2004 10:25 PM

I haven't had a bet in that game as I follow Spurs so I hope they win 2-1 for you.

I generally only have 1 bet per night, then sometimes back up on a US Sports game (NBA, NFL, MLB) in the morning.

So only bet for tonight is Bolton.
Will have wait til the morning for the result, wont be staying up. Saturday's are very draining for me punting on the horses all day.

Jack Daniels 13th November 2004 10:39 PM

Tottenham 1 nil Vs Arsenal.

knowledge 13th November 2004 10:41 PM

GOAL!!!

Tottenham. For once I was right about their mentality. Usually when I bet on over 2.5 goals in an Arsenal match I want the opposition to score first, because generally Arsenal win and as you know if you're 1-0 down you have to score 2 to win (no kidding) but this Arsenal team looks average compared to the other matches we've seen from them this season. I think Tottenham may even score 2 goals, Arsenal's defence is so weak without Campbell, and Cygan is just a joke.

Almost half time.. my nerves would be eased by another goal..

Oaksnaf 13th November 2004 10:44 PM

Portsmouth and Southampton are 1-1

penalty for the arsenal.

knowledge 13th November 2004 11:12 PM

2-1 Arsenal.

Lauren.

Jack Daniels 13th November 2004 11:13 PM

Hey Knowledge I hope you are right about the +2.5 but I hope Arsenal score next.

into Aust to beat the Poms in the League 1-12
into Aust/Aust to beat the French in the Union
into S.A to beat the Irish Hd 2 Hd
into Chelsea to beat Fullam Hd 2 Hd.

And that would be Arsenals 2nd. WOO HOO!!!!!

Jack Daniels 13th November 2004 11:17 PM

Make it Arsenal 3 Tottenham 1.

WOO HOO.
