sportznut 19th November 2004 05:27 PM

Okay, I know it's been a total of ZERO weeks since our Spring tipping comp finished, but I sense a few people might be lost without posting their tips each week. So I've decided that as long as you guys are interested, I'll keep it going, but instead of one long comp we'll simply have a separate tipping comp for each Saturday.

PLEASE READ THE NEW RULES:

NEW RULES
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(a) $100 to bet with each week. Win OR each-way betting. (no place betting) Maximum of 2 horses a race. Any meeting covered by Unitab.
(b) Everyone must bet $20 on the selected Feature race each week.
(c) Everyone must pick out a $20 win all-up bet with 2 horses at one of the venues each week.
(d) The other $60 to be divided up as you wish, but you can only bet either $10 OR $20 on any one race. In other words, you can have 3 $20 races or 6 $10 races, or any combination you wish as long as it adds up to the $60. And you CAN include the 2 horses you've picked in your all-up in these bets.
(e) Of course, all tips to be posted prior to jump time of your first bet.
(f) If you get a scratching, you can replace that horse provided you do it with a new post. Do not edit your original post. If you don't replace your scratched horse, the money will simply be refunded.
So, remember:
$20 on the feature race.
$20 on the all-up bet.
$60 in other bets, made up of either $10 or $20 races.
Chuck 19th November 2004 05:28 PM
sportznut 19th November 2004 05:28 PM
This week's feature race is the Eclipse Stakes.
Wow sportz thats some set of rules you got there....gees would be easier to pick 5 horses and award points based on
3 for first
2 for second
1 for third
very easy
sportznut 19th November 2004 08:08 PM
Shaun,
Then you could simply go and pick 5 odds-on chances or something, without worrying about any value. Anyway, I really don't think the rules are that tricky.
feather 19th November 2004 08:08 PM
very sorry but, how does a "all-up bet" work.
umrum 19th November 2004 08:15 PM
Say you back Horse A all up into horse B.
Horse A wins and pays $2/ You have 10 wins all up onto the next meaning you dont collect unless horse B wins which has your 20 rolled automatically onto it. Similar to a double but in a double the dividend comes out of the pool where an all-up it is the two divies multiplied by your stake.
cheers
sportznut 19th November 2004 08:21 PM
Feather,
It's a bit like a Double, only you get to pick the races. You simply pick out two horses in different races at the same meeting. This is a win all-up and that means that BOTH horses must win for you to collect. The $20 goes on the first horse and if it wins, then all of the winnings go on to the second horse. For example, if your first horse wins and pays $3.00, you would have $60 going onto the 2nd horse.
Just noticed the new comp.
Hope there's no $50 penalty against me next week!
sportznut 20th November 2004 03:51 PM
Nope. We're simply having a separate comp each week, at least until December anyway. So there's no penalty for missing this week.
I know one thing. Next week, I'm actually going to stick to my own thoughts for once instead of changing them Saturday morning because the tipsters are picking something else.
Sportznut - Carol, Zev & I have entered (and won) previous Pro-Punter tipping competitions on the one message without any problems.
However, if you can't cope with this, then we can enter our selections on separate messages; or just not enter your competitions at all - no skins off our noses. We just happen to have a great time competing but if you don't want us, just say so.
Disappointed - Martin
I for one don't see any problems with what has trangressed here Martin. Could be you've upset a few tall poppies (in their dreams) by winning this little competition. To be honest I'm disapointed too, for you and the true spirit of this forum. Good to see that someone has deleted other derogatory comments from this thread.
sportznut 22nd November 2004 06:30 AM
Martin, it's not as if there are any prizes or anything here, so you are welcome to keep tipping if you wish.
umrum 22nd November 2004 10:51 AM
How unlucky can you be. Getting knocked off by the friedman family outsiders. First time I've seen em tip a winner.
