Thursday Night Greyhound Tipping Comp (Dec 30)
Slightly different rules this week to give tipsters a bit more choice:
COMPETITION RULES ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (a) $100 to bet with each week. A $20 All-up bet and $80 in Win bets. (b) ALL-UP BET: Everyone to pick out a $20 all-up bet at one of the venues each week. You can have 2, 3 or 4 races and you are allowed to pick each selection for a win OR for a place. With your All-up, normal place betting rules apply. If your dog runs 3rd in a field of 7 and there's no 3rd div, then that's a loss. Also, please set out very clearly if you want any or all of them for a place, because if not, I'll just assume you're picking them to win. (c) WIN BETTING: A maximum of 2 dogs per race. $80 to be divided up as you wish, but you can only bet $5, $10, $15 or $20 on any one race. In other words, you can have any combination of 5,10,15 or 20 dollar races you wish as long as it adds up to the $80. And you CAN include any or all of the dogs you've already picked in your all-up in these bets. |
Haven't had much time to look at them this week, so I decided to include a few selections from a roughie system I've been looking at. Anyway, here goes:
ALL-UP Sandown 3-3 Karaoke Nat (win) 4-1 Lara's Hope (win) 5-7 Dallas Major (win) WIN BETS Albion Pk 5-1 Shapely Creek & 7 Serbian Diamond $5 Sandown 3-3 Karaoke Nat $10 Sandown 4-1 Lara's Hope $10 Sandown 5-7 Dallas Major $10 Angle Pk 1-8 Cashmere Candy & 1 Frosty Miller $5 Angle Pk 8-1 Arvo's Junior & 8 Dancing Olivia $5 Angle Pk 11-4 Satanic Blaze & 8 Ruby Title $5 Hobart 6-7 How Sage $10 Now, here's all the selections from that roughie system I was talking about. They've been going okay recently, so let's see how they go this week: Alb Pk 5-1 Shapely Creek* Dapto 2-7 Kimba's Spirit Sand. 2-2 I'm A Maid Sand. 7-6 Stanton Sand. 9-2 Stoddard Hobart 9-5 Starfire Jordan Hobart 10-4 Another Roady Ang Pk 1-1 Frosty Miller* Ang Pk 2-6 Trouser's Girl Ang Pk 5-6 Bernard Bale Ang Pk 7-3 Super Snoop Ang Pk 8-8 Dancing Olivia* Ang Pk 11-8 Ruby Title* |
Sandown 4-1 $20
Sandown 3-3 $20 Sandown 1-1 $20 Hobart 6-7 $20 ALL-UP: Sandown 1-1 into 3-3 into 4-1 - all for a place $20 |
Looks like not many takers for the comp tonight. Anyway, I'm going to make a change to my all-up bet:
Sandown 3-3, 4-1, 5-7 & 8-3 all for a place. |
Well, those system selections haven't started well. Looks like it's back to the drawing board with that one.
|
i suggest we put these comp in the "forgotten" pile - due to lack of interest
|
going well too :-(

Sandown 3-3 $20 - $+$28 Sandown 1-1 $20 - $-$20 Hobart 6-7 $20 - +$28 ALL-UP: Sandown 1-1 into 3-3 into 4-1 - all for a place $20 = +$20.32 Return: $136.32 N/P: $36.32 |
What divs were you using??? Just using Unitab divs which I have in front of me, your bets returned $104.80 and mine $77.00. Anyway, due to lack of interest, I think we'll ditch the Greyhound tipping comp.
I may have to ditch that system too. It wasn't very good tonight. Just 2 winners and a few placings from 13 selections. |
when I say this I mean absolutely NO offence. Please do not take this personal..
isn't it a bit crazy to be risking your money on something as unpredictable as a bunch of dogs trying to outrun each other? I will admit, I am quite naive about greyhound racing but it seems very difficult to make money on. I've seen others make money on occasion but I'm yet to find a consistent winner. Whereas in something like NBA, NFL and soccer there are consistent winners. Please help me to understand what motivates you to bet on these events and is it possible to make profit? Once again, I mean no disrespect. |
Knowledge,
I DON'T bet on them. Well, apart from one particular form of greyhound racing which has just recently given me some VERY nice wins, but in that particular case, I'm betting only because of the incredible value available, not because I'm really into greyhound racing. I didn't have any bets at all tonight and I haven't had any bets on any of my selections in the tipping comps. I agree with a lot of what you say. A few dogs tonight looked like good things, but got bumps early on and had no chance. But even so, I have become quite interested in it while we've been having this tipping comp and I've learnt a fair bit more about the sport. |
Knowl - no offense taken cos i have never bet on a dog race in my life. However, being the competitive type, i thought this would be fun
BTW Sportz i used racetab |
Hmmm, those divs weren't bad. By the way, I'm thinking of using IAS Super Price for the Horse Racing Comp. I assume they operate 'Super Price' on ALL galloping meetings? Anyone know for sure.
