Any thoughts about todays play?

sparkus8 3rd January 2005 11:13 PM

Tommy Haas looked good tonight against Safin. He might be a guy to look out for over the coming weeks.

Molik was awesome today in both the singles and doubles. She is not too bad a value at 25/1 for the Aussie Open. Of course it will all depend on how she draws, but if it is favourable she is worth a shot with a majority of the top seeds coming of some sort of ailment or injury.

Also every time the Scud plays back his opponent. He was brutal today and it is hard to see him pulling out his slump anytime soon.

knowledge 3rd January 2005 11:17 PM

Marat. :(

Sportz 4th January 2005 06:20 AM

Well, who ended up winning between Russia and Germany?

Chuck 4th January 2005 10:07 AM

Germany 2-1

Myskina WON
Haas WON
Germany WON

Sportz 4th January 2005 10:11 AM

If Hewitt was playing, I reckon Australia would probably win it this year.

knowledge 4th January 2005 10:14 AM

Stepanek v Kohlschreiber
I like Stepanek - $1.40.

sparkus8 4th January 2005 10:59 AM

That's a solid pick and price on Stepanek K-man.

I like Todd Reid tonight at $1.88 and I will multi him up with Hewitt to get a divvie of just over $2.

Reid played well this time last year reaching the quarters in Adelaide and Sydney and making the 3rd round at the Aus open. He also has a bit more experince than Delic who mostly played on the challenger circuit last year.

Betsy 4th January 2005 07:00 PM

Stepanek didnt disapoint today, did anyone see the Blake / Wessels match? Blake seems to be playing some good tennis and looks to have used his long periods off the court in the gym.

Any thoughts on tonight or tomorrows matches?

knowledge 4th January 2005 08:47 PM

Stepanek usually doesn't disappoint (unless you bet against him).

I just had a rush of blood to the head and put all the money in my account on HAAS now I'm worried he will lose. Haas let me down a few times last year but surely at 1.12 he won't screw up??

Betsy 4th January 2005 09:05 PM

Geez, was there much in the account?

I think you'll be pretty safe, Haas played ************ well last night to beat Safin

Good Luck

sparkus8 4th January 2005 09:05 PM

My only worry would be that he had to play two tough matches yesterday and might be a little tired.

I hope for your sake that Schiavone wins the womens singles so that it is a must win match for Haas and Germany.

As we speak Schiavone goes up a break 2-1 in the third set.

knowledge 4th January 2005 09:51 PM

Schiavone won.

It's good to know Haas has a 3-0 H2H lead over Sanguinetti. This should be an easy win but Italians have strong fighting sprit. :)

sparkus8 4th January 2005 10:52 PM

Never in doubt mate Haas cruised through 6-3 6-2.

knowledge 4th January 2005 10:57 PM

too easy :D

no problems

sparkus8 4th January 2005 10:59 PM

Don't suppose you know the Todd Reid score mate?? Can't get it anywhere!

knowledge 4th January 2005 11:22 PM

his game hasn't started yet.

knowledge 5th January 2005 12:24 AM

A. Delic 3 7 6

T. Reid 6 5 2

Delic won.

Betsy 5th January 2005 05:05 PM

Do you guys agree with the Scud being a relatively short priced favourite going into tonights match against Wessels?

knowledge 5th January 2005 05:15 PM

yes, I was thinking the exact same thing.

I'm going to have a small bet on Wessels and if he doesn't win at least I can witness a miracle.

Betsy 5th January 2005 10:13 PM

Wessels just went up 1 set to 0, winning it 7-5 in a tiebreak

knowledge 6th January 2005 12:05 AM

Philippoussis loses again.

Betsy 6th January 2005 11:59 AM

Australia end up losing the tie 2-1 to NED, after the scud pulled out of the mixed after staining a muscle (around the groin area i think)

Any thoughts on today's USA v Slovak tie?

Chuck 6th January 2005 12:14 PM

Best match up so far i think...

My Predictions:
D.Hantuchova 6 6 6
M.Shaughnessy 4 7 3

J.Blake....6 3 6
D.Hrbaty 3 6 1

SLVK 3 2
USA. 6 6

sparkus8 6th January 2005 04:44 PM

Who is everyone taking tonight??

I was thinking of taking Ljubicic over Nadal because he played well their last year and has a lot of points to defend.

Also might have Santoro over Costa. Santoro has been playing well over the past 4 or 5 months and should have too much for Costa on the hard courts.

Will probably have both of these guys multied into Hewitt and Federer as they are the standout of the night.

Betsy 6th January 2005 04:46 PM

I was thinking Ljubicic also, in great form and as you said played well here last year - what are your thoughts on haas vs coria?

sparkus8 6th January 2005 04:50 PM

That is probably one of the toughest matches to call. I am leaning towards Coria at the moment, but I will wait and see what happens in the womens match first.

If Groenefeld beats Dulko I will definitely have Coria because he will know he has to win to keep Argentina alive.

Betsy 6th January 2005 05:00 PM

Do you think 1.22 for federer to win in 2 sets is worthy?

Betsy 6th January 2005 05:03 PM

After being told i cant take my own multi i looked at the TAB sportsbet site to find Doha QF 4 - do you think Grosjean - Federer - Ljubicic - Santoro is worth taking? And maybe also taking Costa aswell just in case he gets up?

sparkus8 6th January 2005 05:35 PM

Federer will probably win in straight sets, but the last two times he has played Lopez he has taken a set off Federer.

Lopez has a really tough serve to read and could probably take it to a tie break in one of the sets and from there it is a lottery, so I would say the $1.22 isn't very good value.

That all up is probably worth a crack - you should get a divvie of $5 plus.

If it were me I would take a saver on the Grosjean v Davydenko match, both those guys are very unpredictable and have great talent.

knowledge 6th January 2005 05:54 PM

Betsy what is the address of the betting site you use?

knowledge 7th January 2005 08:49 PM

Hewitt loses to DENT!

I'm glad I learnt last year to never bet if Dent is involved. He can really put a dent in your funds (no pun intended).

I have to say, I was tempted to bet big on Lleyton. I'm very happy to have dodged this bullet. I also dodged a bullet this morning, waking up too late to bet on Detroit. I'm a lucky guy today.

Chuck 7th January 2005 08:58 PM

my predictions: Rafael Nadal to reach the final

Other good chances: Robin Soderling, Nickolay Davydenko, Fernando Gonzales and Mardy Fish

Backed Thomas Johannson to win this a few years back before the first round and Marat safin to win the US Open before it started as well! Both of these were around the 50-1 mark. I somehow have a knack of picking tennis outsiders, but i haven't tried my luck at it since, except for Guillermo Coria to win the French Open 2 years ago @ 30-1 (he reached the semis). Although i guess you could also say that no one was dominating world tennis back then like Federer is now!

Interesting to see how these outsiders perform!

Chuck

I left Taylor Dent out of my selections cos he is very unpredictable...i remember him belting a ball into the crowd and breaking his racquet in successive points last year after i had backed him to win the tourny, so i had gone off betting on him for a while...might have to rethink though ;-)

Betsy 7th January 2005 09:32 PM

Anyone got any thoughts on the fact that Ljubicic and Moya are both 1-0 down in their head to heads against their oponents tonight?

I think Moya should be a safe bet and i like the look of ljubicic, but there is some doubt creeping into my mind as to how sure a bet these are

knowledge 7th January 2005 09:46 PM

Hewitt was 1.10.
Dent: $5.85. :o

Sportz 7th January 2005 09:58 PM

Geez, I should have had a look. I would have rated him no more than a $3.50 or $4 chance. I must admit that I've really been much more interested in the Hopman Cup. Alicia Molik's playing well.

knowledge 7th January 2005 10:06 PM

I think Myskina will beat Molik.

anyone have the odds?
