System,

In the second race that looks like 6 picks at 104%...

F

Sportz 13th January 2005 04:39 PM

Well, they're obviously equal 5th picks. It would be better if people could provide only 5 picks, but if you do have equal 5th rated horses, please try to at least put them in some order of preference. As for the odds, that's not absolutely crucial, but it would be much better if people could use a 100% market to price their horses. Some people's ratings are listed in kgs, some in lengths, some in points etc etc, so giving each horse a price is a good way for us to make a good comparison between methods.

Gday All,

just to get this clear... do I rate the 5 picks as the only horses in the field ie 100% of the market or do I do as I normally do rate the whole field as 100%. Then post the top 5?

DR RON 13th January 2005 04:54 PM

xptdriver,

rate the whole field to 100% and then list your top five.

Yeah, as Ron said, rate the WHOLE FIELD to 100%, but only post the top 5.

Sorry I didn't make that clearer in my initial post. :o

Duritz 13th January 2005 05:13 PM

LOL we haven't even run a race yet and there's queries everywhere!!!

Sportz 13th January 2005 05:18 PM

Yep.

Well, I've been looking after the tipping comp for the last 4 or 5 months, so I know all about that. :D

I am about 25 minutesfrom Caulfield andthere were a couple of brief showers here but they would not have affected the track condition. Mind you by looking at the sky at the moment if it did open up it could get very wet in a hurry.

I now don't stand a chance in this little competition, xptdriver throws his great ratings into the pool. I have great respect for his ratings as I have used them before with excellent overlay results.

Bets of luck xptdriver, glad to have you here.

Gday Chrome,

thanx for the words, but of late my Melbourne form has sucked big time.. Good luck with your bets for the day

DR RON 15th January 2005 01:40 PM

Zorro seems to have done best so far with his 2nd and 3rd picks running the quinella. A couple of others got the winner but overall a fairly ordinary result.

Sportz 15th January 2005 01:56 PM

Yeah Ron, I knew this would happen!

When I did my ratings My Gibreel and Irish Crusader were rated equal 5th. I didn't want to include 6 horses, so I had to go for one and I picked My Gibreel. Then I found out that Benbow can only claim 2 kgs instead of 3 kgs now, so I really should have had Irish Crusader in my top 5. Live and learn.

DR RON 15th January 2005 02:16 PM

A better effort all round. System with the trifecta in order with his first three picks. A few others also with the tri in the first five.

Sportz 15th January 2005 03:18 PM

I'll work it all out a bit later, but after just a quick look at all the ratings, I'd say that Zorro will be just in front of Chrome Prince, System and xpt Driver.

Chuck 15th January 2005 04:00 PM

Didn't get in on time...was going to have Youth on top followed by Chong Tong though :-| Not going to be posting much this week...at holiday house!

Sportz 15th January 2005 06:26 PM

Shaun (2.5 + 37.5) 40 pts
The mug (7.5 + 32.5) 40 pts

DR RON 15th January 2005 06:35 PM

how do you allot the points sportz?

Sportz 15th January 2005 06:54 PM

Little bit tricky to explain, but basically the higher up in your top 5 that you rate the winner and the placegetters the more you score. The perfect score for a race is 100 points and to do that you have to rate the horses in order 1-2-3-4-5!!!

system 15th January 2005 06:57 PM

doing good job sportz thanks for the effort mate

Sportz 15th January 2005 07:05 PM

Thanks.

Bad luck system. You scored very well in R5, but if you had kept Tuareg in and dropped Broadband instead, you would have actually picked the first 4 and scored an extra 12.5 points!!!
