GODOLPHIN 7 STARS

Hi all,

The Godolphin 7 stars competition is open for registration again.

For those that aren't aware, it's a competition run by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rasheed Al Maktoum. You pick 7 horses (one from each stable) and you are awarded points on their performance over a number of months. The prizes are well worth it:

This year’s prizes are:

1st : US$100,000, plus two first-class return air tickets with Emirates Airline to Dubai and seven nights at the Burj Al Arab Hotel.
2nd : US$50,000
3nd : US$30,000
4th : US$15,000
5th : US$5,000

There are also consolation prizes if you don't win the competition but are the points leader for your country.

You have to register, but it's free!

There are around 22 days left before registration closes.

Hopefully 3rd time lucky for me CP.

Chrome Prince 4th March 2005 05:03 PM

Me too Mark ;-)

Hey, it might be fun to list our selections here AFTER registration closes and compare points in a running tally.

Just for fun.

Mark 4th March 2005 05:11 PM

Will do.

Interesting Mark that we don't have one selection the same.

I picked mine simply by using the highest Timeform rating and for unraced, highest price paid.

Will be interesting to see how they go.

Mark 25th March 2005 06:30 PM

I used a much more scientific method.
I picked the names I thought sounded fast or like good horses names!, plus Doyen was my best for last year.

Didn't a horse named Filibuster race in Australia a few decades ago?

From memory :) 1870s / 1880s Chrome.

Paddy 25th March 2005 07:34 PM

As a youngster won the 1877 SA St Ledger.

Paddy 25th March 2005 07:39 PM

And unplaced in the 1877 Melbourne Cup.
Would you believe 76,000 attended the cup that year....I was just a whipper-snapper at the time :)

Raw Instinct 26th March 2005 10:24 PM

Does anyone know what time this race is on at all? and do you know if it is being broadcasted at all.

Chrome Prince 26th March 2005 11:20 PM

It says 20:35hrs local time, I'm assuming that's Dubai time, so 8:35pm Victorian time plus 4 hours, so that makes it 12:35am Sunday in about 15 mins, not sure where we can hear the race though ;(

Result will come through to Godolphin website 40 mins after the running.

Chrome Prince 27th March 2005 10:24 AM

Congrats to Elvstroem. right up there on the International scene.

Sights On Gold was running third to the 200m mark and faded to finish last under punishing riding by Frankie Dettori. First up needed the run and should strip fitter next start.

Mark 27th March 2005 11:01 AM

I had Razkalla in the Derby, ran 2nd & earnt me 30 points. I'm currently 85th in Australia & 923rd in the world, possibly my best position ever.

Mark 22nd May 2005 04:36 PM

My donkey ran again.
3rd of 5 at 1/2 fav.

Hi Mark,

Must be the off season or something, on two runs in a month out of my whole stable :(

Mark 27th May 2005 09:09 AM

I think the flat season has just started, so hopefully we'll get some more action.

Mark 16th June 2005 09:40 AM

Chrome

My horse is going around at York tonight.
On Betfair he's one of the outsiders at 180/1.
