Racing Analysis

Does anybody know how people get jobs as Racing Analysts, cause i would love to know how people get these jobs as i would be very interested in becoming one.

Thanks in advance.

I know of one...you have to pass a test but its pretty easy ..

http://www.humbleton.com/Humbleton.htm

Good luck :)

TESTAROSSA 14th March 2005 02:53 PM

Thanks Mav, i know of that one as well, i applied and did the test 2 weeks ago and haven't heard anything back as of yet. Rang them last Tuesday and they said they were still processing everything and i would DEFITNELY get a call/email
telling me if i was successful or not, but as of yet zilch.

Did you apply for it as well???

maverick1993 14th March 2005 03:34 PM

No but i have the test....looks to hard for me
..I've only been serious about this for a year...I'm still learning.

The test looks like they are after a certain type of Analyst....
I couldn't see me doing any good as my views and ratings differ from the norm...
I keep picking winners regardless...and have for the last year been very profitable... I leave for the states after easter Monday for a month courtesy of Mr Mark Read and to a lesser extent Unitab..

I was given some real good advice from a professional gambler...He said after you've had a good win...buy something !! Like a new Tv or Holiday or whatever ...because when you have your run of outs atleast you have something to show for it..
I have some property some good young horses ...and now only work part time.. looking at going to the West indies in a couple for the cricket world cup...
If Snitzel wins the Slipper I'll have it paid for ..

But getting paid for what you probably do anyway ....would be nice ..but i'd hate the pressure of getting it all wrong...
I put myself under enough as it is.. :)

brave chief 14th March 2005 05:40 PM

Yea it's my dream job as well Testa. It's the type of thing I'd spend 16 hrs a day on for peanuts, just because i enjoy the process so much.

Hey Mav, is that ad for real?

And the aptitude test, do you have a copy? I wouldn't mind checking it out.

brave chief 14th March 2005 05:44 PM

oh, years ago i had a chat with one of the big bookies about a job producing his ratings. he told me he usually hired ex-bookies, of which there are plenty. dissapointed the hell outta me :(

maverick1993 14th March 2005 06:08 PM

have it here somewhere Brave Chief.....i'll scan it and post it somewhere for us all to do..

I don't know if its all for real and all the details..but give them a ring and ask them... they seem all above board or else they'd have po box and mobile phone number :)

Mr ed 14th March 2005 11:20 PM

Great advice Mav, Me and Mylady are planning a trip to the States this year. I'm trying to talk her into going when Alinghi's going to race but she's not happy about that, want's me to have a breather, would love to get the overs they'd have her @ over there though.

partypooper 15th March 2005 02:01 AM

Any word Testa ?

brave chief 22nd March 2005 05:51 PM

Got the test in the mail this arvo. Interesting stuff, but doesn't seem too difficult.

TESTAROSSA 23rd March 2005 03:07 PM

No word still Brave Chief, rang again the other day and got the same response, "still processing, but will defenitely get a call when all is finalised".

Starting to give up hope!!!!

brave chief 11th May 2005 03:18 PM

Well, I've been training for the last 2 weeks. I don't know your situation Testarossa, but my trainer told me they'll basicly only put on people from NSW now, unless they're spectacular.

Personally, I got lucky in that I live around the corner from a manager that has worked for the company for 8 years. I simply popped over to his place for an interview, and the training is one on one. Every one else has to go down to Sydney and do a 40 hour week long training program.

Job and company looks great so far.

TESTAROSSA 11th May 2005 04:07 PM

Good on ya Brave Chief, you are lucky alright, i gave up a long time ago, good to know that the company is real and reputable at least.

As a matter of interest where abouts are you from??, i am from the Central Coast so i am definitely close enough, i would still love to get a job like this, maybe i should apply again.

Anyway keep me up to date on how things are progressing with yourself.

brave chief 11th May 2005 07:45 PM

hiya Testa,

send an email to [bravechief29 at yahoo dot com] if you want more personal info from me. i'll ask my trainer if they are still recruiting, be happy to pass on your number etc. I can give you the low down on whats expected, the pay etc.

Its a lot more diffulcult then it first appears. You must learn the Humbleton method and get it down pat. I was supposed to do a meeting tonight, so far taken me 2 hrs to do 2 lousy races :( Think i'll watch Clockwork Orange instead.

Duritz 11th May 2005 08:29 PM

Hey Chief I'd be really keen to hear any info on their bonus and penalty methods etc, I know a bit about what they do, but without the exactness. I'm at kingsandmadmen at hotmail dot com if you want to have a chat.
