If GA goes to his best, and he nearly always does, he will beat these comfortably. They are good horses, but he is a star. He's a better horse than Elvis, and he'll win today. I assess him an even money chance.

Raw Instinct 24th April 2005 03:09 PM

Got to disagree there Duritz I am of the opinion that Elvstroem is the better horse he has a better turn of foot than Grand Armee and can stay better than him aswell. If one of the aussie horses are to win this race it will be Elvis I am extremely confident of that however that is not to say that neither one of them will win it either I would think that Russian Pearl and Vengeance of Rain would both be dangers Phoenix Reach I would also rate a chance aswell

Duritz 24th April 2005 05:19 PM

Could be right, but I don't think you are. Guess that's the great thing about racing. I'd be happy if either won, but I'll back GA if the current odds hold. He's only $3.10 on the HK tote.

Sportz 24th April 2005 05:41 PM

Good tipping Raw Instinct. Didn't bet in the race, but I reckon the Australian horses were shocking value.

Duritz 24th April 2005 05:42 PM

That's a shame. Won't know how they would've gone had they performed to their ability.

boxhead 24th April 2005 05:55 PM

Cheers Raw,
Was happy to take the any two from your tips without Elvis or GA.
Paid nicely.
Love HK racing, any thoughts on the next two?
Thanks again.
Larry

Duritz 24th April 2005 06:06 PM

Well my tips are probably unwanted seeing as GA ran "flat" as DF said, however in the next I think the HK tote fave Summerland is extreme unders. I like the supertab favourite, #12 Green Treasure, from the huge overs #13 Red Pepper (beaten only 3.5 lens in a Group 1 two starts ago, with 57.3 kgs and drops to 52 for this, a class 1 (like an open hcp)). Favourite #5 for third, from 8 and 1. I'll be backing 12 and 13.

boxhead 24th April 2005 06:16 PM

Duritz,
No slur intended, your thoughts are more than welcome.
Thank you and good luck.
Cheers
Larry

Sportz 24th April 2005 06:17 PM

Well done there Duritz.

Duritz 24th April 2005 06:19 PM

Ta - wish I was a tri punter!

Sportz 24th April 2005 06:20 PM

Wish I had seen your post before they jumped.

boxhead 24th April 2005 06:21 PM

Duritz,
Very nice, again thanks.
Cheers,
Larry

Duritz 24th April 2005 06:39 PM

OK I'll have another dip. My selections 9-2-6-8-10&1 (equal). TOUGH race. 9 no value on HK tote at about 2.90 but is ok here at about $6.00. Will wait until last minute to see totes smooth out a bit before working out who to back.

Chuck 24th April 2005 06:53 PM

in the next i ilke 6,9,13,2 & 1

Chuck 24th April 2005 06:54 PM

haha...i just noticed this is after race time...better turn on Fox!

Sportz 24th April 2005 06:59 PM

Well done again Duritz. Once again, I didn't see your tips till it was too late. Never mind.

boxhead 24th April 2005 07:02 PM

Duritz,
Well done again.
Backed San Lorenzo for the place -- guess why???
Cheers and thanks,
Larry

Sportz 24th April 2005 07:07 PM

Geez, there could have been a bonanza there for 'Any2' punters. Simply taking the favourite no.9 (Duritz's tip) with the field would have cost $6 for a 50 cent unit and returned $101.25!

boxhead 24th April 2005 07:10 PM

Sportz,
You are a machine, don't you ever sleep?
Cheers,
Larry

Sportz 24th April 2005 07:20 PM

Well, not usually at 8 o'clock at night, no.

boxhead 24th April 2005 07:25 PM

Old fellas like me usually in bed by now, but not when Honks is on.
Cheers

Duritz 24th April 2005 07:33 PM

LOL

I'm with Sportz - pllenty of time to sleep when they're not racing.... which is never!!!

I am on the form for Flemington tomorrow now. I have had a look at race 4 just now, looks a race in two to me, 2 and 4, both Mayfield Smith's.

Duritz 24th April 2005 07:39 PM

I love Honker's too Boxhead, I think it is the best betting medium around. I got four of the five winners on top actually, just Grand Armee made me miss.

The only thing which goes close as far as great betting medium's I reckon is Flemington, and they're racing their tomorrow!!! Excellent!!

BTW Boxhead an article in a paper in Melbourne here the other day said that they're going to betting on Honkers all the time come May, so I hope it's finally going to be true!!

Sportz 24th April 2005 07:43 PM

Yeah, that's right. From the start of May, Hong Kong racing will be a regular thing on the TABs.

Duritz 24th April 2005 07:53 PM

Cool. I started up a database of Honkers racing about four months ago in preparation for when we could bet on it. I have ratings now on all Hong Kong, Australian and NZ racing.

Raw Instinct 25th April 2005 06:05 AM

Greys Inn was amazing value in that race ran a tough race last start against Phoenix Reach where he got stuck a little wide most of the way to be honest I missed his name when I went down the list on here.

On a side note Phoenix Reach is supposed to be coming over for the Cox Plate and Greys Inn is supposed to be coming over for the Melbourne Cup.

mecurial 25th April 2005 10:11 AM

Didn't have a bet on the QEII, but I watched and thought the Australians were pretty disappointing actually.

Congratulations Alan Bell in overlooking Danny for some "local knowledge". It really paid off didn't it.Grand Armee had ONE chance to win that race. Be fired out of the barriers (ala Fashions Afield in the Sires Produce - D. Beasley aboard) get out in front and try and decimate the field coming around the turn. Instead GA was called upon to chase, and we all knew that was never going to happen, and finished a disappointing 11th.

I am not for a minute saying GA WOULD have broken the field had it had the lead, but it was its only chance, and unfortunately it didn't have that chance.

Elvstroem no excuses race-wise, had basically everything going for it, I heard Tony Vasil wasn't too happy with Nash's ride, but if Elvstroem was at peak fitness, then there can be no excuses for its run.

Makybe Diva to blitz the field at Kyoto next Sunday!
