ANTI VIRUS PROGRAMS
Looking for suggested antivirus programs. ?? Does one need to go for high expense or lower end scale. I have just tried a free trial one one and it is picking up ?? trojans on a program I have been running for 10 years and I know it is a reliable trojan free program. All suggestions welcome.

My personal opinion is that a few of the big name commercial one's are more trouble than they are worth, i don't like all in one's that combine anti-virus and firewall, some of the free programs like Avast are fine, i have found AVG is very bloated and slows down your system.
All programs will detect false positives, you will need to research these if they are programs you use. |
Thanks Shaun. I was trialing a (russian named) one starting with Ka%%^^^^ and I was having all sorts of interference. Since uninstalling and going back to windows MS security protection it is running much smoother and faster without the problems. I do believe that one other than the freebies is necessary. I also run Malawarebytes (free version).

That Russian one is the worst aside from Edward NORTON ;)
It picks up everything as a potential threat and it's very annoying, you can't tell what's what. Malwarebytes along with Microsoft Security Essentials is all you need, or if you're running Windows 10 the built in Windows Defender (much the same thing), is fine. |
Thanks CP.
Exactly what I found with that Russian one and I would not go near the secondmentined. Am running Win 7 home premium. enjay |
