You don't have an add/remove programs like on windows?

In case you didn't notice, I have no idea about servers except at Maccas.

In Server 2008 you should be able to add/remove programs, but they may have this locked to Administrators and put you on a User account.
Some places do this so you cannot remove their settings.
You can install programs but cannot delete them for security purposes.
Try the Start menu and see if you can select Uninstall Betting Assistant, otherwise send them a request to uninstall it for you.

Thanks mate, no start menu just opens the server manager, i have posted in the help forum on Amazon, i know some on this site use the same servers with Gruss as that's where i got the idea.

All done, i managed to get a window open with a search option, found it there and was able to uninstall the program.

i run Gruss integrated with excel on a stand alone machine and access it with teamviewer.

Thus i can be and have been well away from the computer and can treat it as a terminal when i log in.

Its not a bad setup except when the internet goes down and also excel is a bit unstable and does crash occasionally.

that standalone computer runs all the macros and gets the form etc.

Do you think i could do this running with EC2

thanks in advance

Aussie

It is exactly the same as a standalone pc, you can scale the sever to your own needs and access it via team viewer or i use remote desktop from pc or tablet. even my phone can access it, you can start/stop from the website to minimize cost, i run a virtual server with the lowest of specs, about 615mb ram and that will run Gruss with an excel sheet running everyday for about 8 hours cost about $20 a month, when idle not running at all cost about $7

Check them out here, am sure they would suit you.

so you run the t2.micro version at about 2c per hour ?

Yes that's right, it works ok as long as your excel scripts aren't to complex, but you can try and is a simple change up if needed.
