Triggered Betfair betting using excel

I have an excel spreadsheet fed with a XML feed of Tatts tote prices. I'm looking for software, that when manually triggered (as in I'm watching Sky for when they're about to jump) places a Lay bet with Betfair at SP. The selections are generated purely by the excel spreadsheet acting upon Tatts prices only, at the time of the trigger event.

Any suggestions?
Cheers RP

Hey RP, the problem will be matching the xml feed to the event on Betfair.
Also horse's names on betfair do not contain apostrophes.
I'm sure it can be done using Gruss Betting Assistant and getting the xml feed onto the spreadsheet. The Gruss forum has a developer section, you might be able to get someone to code it for a reasonable fee.

Cheers for the advice, I'll post on their forum, and see what sort of advice I get?

Gruss can do the job, you could feed your prices in to a sheet and and set up different triggers to control races and prices.

You could use a sheet like this to control all the actions, this one is just designed to place bets using runner names but easy to change to do whats needed.

Wow!, Shaun looks impressive. I've only glanced at it but to give you and idea of what happens on my excel spreadsheet presently. I trigger a snapshot of current tote prices, They are ranked and compared with criteria. Conditional formatting kicks in and colours selections in the race field that meet criteria. now you've got to remember this might be something like 3 minutes after the official start time (race delayed) and I'm watching it on Sky. For the system to achieve optimum results, I need to trigger Lay SP bets as close to the Close as possible. Once my spreadsheet formats the selections, the biggest bugbear is the time to select and place the bets. That's where I need the software to kick in! I'm not sure if your offering suits, but you'd know, being the developer. If you could make it work for me, I'd be happy to talk privately with regard remuneration for your time.

Cheers and thanks again for your post. I'll have a good look at the spreadsheet in the small hours of tomorrow morning.

Biggest issue with any automation is it works based on time, the best you could do is place your bets at the off time, unless you have accurate pictures then you could set up a single button to place the best, as long as you get matched all is good, we could even incorporate importing your data based on the current race selected at a specific time before the race.

I'm not after automation as much, as I trigger the selection and ideally bet simultaneously. The excel spreadsheet has done all the work selecting the horses. I just need an instrument to bet on those selections Betfair SP, no need to get matched! For me, the time needed to look at the selection then select them on the Betfair page, enter the liability amount, then Place & Confirm bets could take 20 secs. I need that reduced to less than 3 secs. At present probably miss 50% of bets! .....as the betting is closed.

Yep can be done simply, better to incorporate it to one sheet with a row of your prices then the SP as such and let it calculate automatically, then all you need to do is press one button to send the bets, less than 3 seconds.

You can request a 30 day trial of gruss, once you done that e-mail me shaun2166 at hotmail we can talk about your needs, shouldn't take long to do, will use that sheet as a template and strip out the automation.

Yes, you're right about the apostrophes CP, a horse called Sunday's News on Tatts is written as Sundays News on Betfair.

Also a scratching on Tatts remains listed in saddlecloth order but Betfair drop the scratched horse to the bottom of the list.

These sorts of issues seem the biggest obstacle, triggering the bet not so. Will keep working on it.

Not really an issue, a formula like this can be used to manipulate data stripping out what's not needed and formulating it for Gruss to be searched

=AI5&". "&SUBSTITUTE(RIGHT(AC5,LEN(AC5)-FIND(" ",AC5,1)),"'","")

The thing you find is late scratchings are not removed but have a tag of (NR) after the name, still no drama with searching.
