From one old guy to another. There is a way. I run windows XP on windows 7.

Run a searcch (I use g%^*gle) for windows 98 virtual machine windows 7.

If you have windows 10 just change search to 10 instead of 7.... You basically download a virtual machine to your computer and install win 98. It does work.

Good luck.
enjay.

There is also a feature in Windows 7 and Windows 10...
Look at right clicking the old program and selecting properties, then the compatibility tab, tick the box marked Compatibility mode and select Windows 98 and Apply. It might just work.

If it's in an .exe format I can't see why it wouldn't run.

But the suggestions of using virtual machines are good if you can handle it.

I'm running VB6 professional on Win10 to maintain old software I have written for others many years ago and too big and hard to convert to .NET.
So it's possible, give it a try.

Just make sure you make copies and copies of copies to save them.

Very sage advice from Blackdog.
I'm always thinking I'll get round to backing up externally, as do a lot of others. You can make a backup to your second hard drive on your PC, but what if it was stolen in burglary. In the business we are in, it would be a complete disaster to be left with nothing. Especially old programs, databases, scripts, spreadsheets etc.
Back up to your PC and then back up to an external drive that is kept elsewhere.
I learnt my lesson the hard way a few years ago!

Use the 3-2-1 principal of backing up, 3 copies,2 local on different mediums or places, 1 external copy off site.
