question about system viability what would be classed as a good system, anything over 1?

Snert 28th March 2018 04:17 PM

I've got a couple in the 50's and a few in the 40's. It appears that the number of selections and the strike rate have a lot to do with a high system viability, plus the POT of course. I don't think anything under 10 would cut the mustard.

Hi Beans,
System Viability is the profit divided by the Maximum win dividend and profit divided by the Maximum place dividend, you'll see this on the summary. A system viability of 1 means there's very little chance of the system being long term viable as all the profit comes from one big winner. For any system you'll want at least double figures in system viability depending of course on the number of bets or qualifiers.

Also what Snert said :)
Anything under 10, relies too much on longshots.
I came up with this calculation to aid punters from thinking they've struck gold when the profit comes up, but all the profit came from a rank outsider.

How accurate is this Chrome?, for last years results I get a score of over 300, and this year sitting at around 150.

Hi Mark,
You must have a huge sample size, but that's a very good figure for each year.
I'd be very confident in future returns.

lol, that's really funny Mark.

You're on world record pace and we haven't taken into account that you're swimming uphill and against the tide for the first half. Mark I'm laughing with you (which you would be too with that score) not at you. :)

I'm WAS sitting here rather smugly ........ Onya !!!!!! lol

"System Viability is the profit divided by the Maximum win dividend"

Does it mean the highest win dividend the system ever had?
Thanks

Correct. Identifies the degree to which profit is pumped by the fattest divvy, If I understand it correctly.

Thanks LG, will try it with one of my systems, although it's a long shot system with only 12% S/R but very profitable.
If I leave out the over $30s (TAB dogs only) it might be improved.
I can calculate with different divies and see what the numbers say eh?
