L-Plater needs some advice

Hey all,
Was wondering if you knowledgable beings could help a fella locate any of the following titles:

1.Gallopers and Gamblers - A Guide To Thoroughbred Racing in Australia
by Pat Craven
2.Australian Horse Racing and Punters Guide
by Rem Plante
3.Winning More
by Don Scott
4.Winning in the '90s
By Don Scott
5.Hats in the Ring
by Allan Aitken
6.Horse Racing Theory and Practice
by Paul Seager
7.Commonsense Punting - A Mathematical Approach
by Roger Dedman

If you could make any additional suggestions to this list i would be obliged

Try the Horseman's Bookshop in either Melbourne or Sydney, they should have some, but no probably all of those books. Some like the Plante and Scott books are hard to find at times.

Iamcool i have a copy of Australian Horse Racing and Punters Guide
by Rem Plante that'd i'd be willing to part with for the right price,we could work out some sort of c.o.d. thing through the post.

I have Dollars & Sense the complete approach to staking and money management by Equestrian Publishing that might interest you.

I also have a book called the Racing Game which is a complete wrap up of the 1981/82 racing season that features horses like Kingstown Town and Rancher.

If your talking Don Scott i dont have his books but i do have a video of his called Winning At The Races.

I'll sell them all if anyone is interested.

Since i'm here....

Has anyone had any experience with the tipping services that are available?
Are they all rubbish?

They seem to claim, the day after i might add, that they picked this winner and that winner at varying prices with varying degrees of success. {Granted they can hardly post selections to non-subscribers before each race****

Is it all total rubbish or would there be any advantage in subscribing to see?
I am not as experienced with system design and implementation as some of the people that contribute to this forum and some do not seem to be prohibitively expensive at $20 per month. That being the case are they any better or worse than designing your own systems? Surely to attract subscribers any therefore revenue they would need to be reasonably accurate.

What say you?

Thanks for your reply Dale,

I have just e-mailed Horsemans as they are advertising several of the titles that i was looking for, however if things don't work out there i'll give you a shout.

As a matter of interest what kinda' money you thinking would be the right price?

I would suggest Barry Blakemore's "Weights Right" as a great horse racing book

book search

Try
www.abebooks.com
Click on Advanced search and put in the title and select Country: Australia
(or NZ). This cuts down on postage costs, but you can leave it as All countries.
I have found most booksellers here to be generally reliable.

Cheers.
