A Tribute!

I wrote this on the back of the sad passing of a very gallant horse.

The Iron Horse - A tribute

Lines that define run down his brown rump,
The signs of grace, fitness and hard work,
A challenge laid down of which he won’t shirk,
By a horse that gives his all from the jump.

He’ll bound to the lead no matter the gate,
And roll along at whatever the pace.
From here it’s up to the jockey to rate,
And the Iron horse Mummify will dictate the race.

He’ll come round the bend ahead of the rest,
His head sturdy; his mind right on the job,
Only the minors are left to contest,
As the iron horse puts paid to this mob.

He’ll win as all the great horses will do,
Eased right up on the line,
He’ll go back to his stable for a might big chew,
Whilst the connections crack a bottle of wine.

These days are over to manys dismay,
And only fond memories remain,
He’ll go down in history as a very good bay,
Except when he raced in the rain.

Someone knows how to write poetry, like the structure and the words went down well.
* He’ll go back to his stable for a might(y) big chew

But that was pretty darn good.

I felt i should contribute here as well, so I wrote this on the spot after reading yours

The Iron Horse they call it,
And this is how I will recall it;
The horse that would win, after missing the start.

With Freedman his guide,
And Danny with the ride,
This horse was made of nothing but pure heart.

The purple, red and white,
He was bred to excite,
He raced with the orders “Just take it out in front”

And when the massive strides got working,
The jock, well we was smirking.
He knew the other horses were no longer in the hunt
