Sydney Weather

Hi Guys and Gals,

I only bet on Sydney Racing and it's frustrating not being able to watch it on TV at home, but what I find is just as bad is not being able to know what the weather is like during the week (before the weekend).

For example this weeks racing is at Rosehill, and the track will no doubt be posted as good. I understand that its sunny today and expected to be mostly sunny tomorrow, but there has been some rain in the Paramatta area this week. So the track would not be as Good as "Good" can be if you know what I mean. Over the past weeks the TAB always says the track is good, but clearly it hasn't been that good. They cancelled trials at :place w:st="on">Randwick:place> the other day, so I suspect the TAB is telling a little fib. (for profit)

Is there anywhere on the web, I can get accurate daily updates to the rainfall in an area surrounding the :place w:st="on">Sydney:place> tracks?

I would like to see ProPun post a daily rainfall for each of the 4 tracks on their website. Would be a good service for the serious punter.

Can anyone tell me the true state of the tracks?

Meanwhile, I have to go and enjoy the beach here of the Gold Coast.... Good Punting..

Oz,

I am not sure if this helps but if you try this bureau of Meteorology link and click "sydney basin" you can get the exact mm recorded at all the Sydney locations. It might at least give you an idea. I sometimes ask people on the forum as someone always seems to have an idea of how much rain has fallen.

Thank You Tubby... That's exactly what I want... I can put the readings in a spreadsheet every day and graph rainfall against what the track rating is..

Thanks again

But I hear that sometimes the track can start "dead" when no rain has fallen?

Heavy Dew?? Actually I know there is a lot of pressure on ground staff to provide the ideal track at every meeting and they do a very good job pre-guessing the weather... If they're expecting drying winds they might put some extra water on and then the winds don't come and the extra water dosen't get evaporated.

Three Cheers forthe Ground staff, they do a great job, but even they can't predict the weather. (They do a better job than the profit motivated TAB, that's for sure)

I certainly wasn't knocking the ground staff. Just being a little facetious.
