Eagle Farm Saturday

Race 1.
I was super keen on Scenic Wells here..just not sure about all this rain ..if its it dead or better i'll be on Scenic whos been working to the line nicely of late and gets to a distance that suits..
I'm unsure about Dont Tell Clang who i think is a super horse..my guess is she has feet probs and thats the reason why she seemed alittle funny last start...last time in the wet she blitzed them after racing wide the whole way,,
..i'll be on S/W if the conditions suit..
Race 2
This is a race where you need to be at the track and viewing the horses in the flesh...Diamonds am i will have the inside and trialled ok...probably the safest way to go,,
Race 3.
Alot of speed in this race...I think Nova Star can take the sit off them and again be to strong for them..Celestane and Emit time the dangers..
Stirling to be running on,,
Race 4,
Succeeding was ridden upside down last start,,,didnt suit..will be ridden back this time and will be flying late..
Radar the danger ..just not sure because of the conditions but he'll have the nice run..
Race 5.
Now this is a hardrace ..i'm forgiving fond kiss's last start..just didnt have the best run and the rider lost the whip..i thought Desktop magic could snag a place aswell...racing in good form and the time was good ..
Both have bad barriers so will need luck,,
Race 6.
Classic Carla has most of these covered...I think Appleby and Double Portion the dangers ahead of the southerners Zacielo and Beau..
box the 5 ..easy ..
I've been very impressed with Appelby of late..last run went around them where as Classic Carla took the inside run..
Not sure whos riding him but should be good e/w value..
Race 7.
I'd be all over Sir Breaky but for the wet track,,,same with Show biz.
Imperilism fitter for the good run first up..gets the good run...and Gumnuts ridden alittle quieter this time will be in it for along way..
will be looking at Gumnuts and Imperilsm.
Race 8.
Generalisimo in these conditions will run well ...looks good against this lot..

Sorry guys ..fairly short summary..off to the casino tonight for some poker .. :)

Nova Star and Succeeding my best i think...hard to be confident as its now raining outside fairly heavy..good luck guys..

hoping the sun comes out tomorow ..

G'day Mav,

Shame the rain came from a racing perspective, a couple of the better chances don't like the wet. Nevertheless, its still a good day with some good betting races.

Race 1 - Thought Very Canny should just about win this with the sting out. Picablu would have been my pick but the rain has scared me off him a bit. The speed doesn't look overly strong, so i think Very Canny can take a forwardish position and get home over the top of them. Picablu will be right on pace, and if he handles the conditions, will prove tough to stop. Don't Tell Clang is a very nice mare and will definitely improve tomorrow with the wet ground and the extra distance.

Race 2 - My success rate in 2yo races is atrocious, so no reason to believe that my record in 2yo races on the wet ground will be any better. My 3 from the dart board are Rembrandts Ransom, Charmana Star and Fooled. NEXT!

Race 3 - Quality 3yo race here. As mav said they will go very hard here with Celestalane and Ben Hur engaged. For that reason, i too like Nova Star. Was a strong win last time and has had a good break between runs. With the 3kgs off for Palmer, i think she'll go close. Emit Time has the alley and the 3kgs off aswell, and will be running on strongly. He may just need an extra 200m or so. I'm not prepared to sack him completely though. Celestalane held on well 2 back against Nova Star and won in a canter last time at the Coast. While the weights don't really suit him, he'll give backers a good sight.

Race 4 - Radar is going to open pretty short tomorrow i think which is why i'm steering clear of him (being an unknown on the wet and all). Buck Season doesn't mind the wet going and can be on pace too, which may be of assistance here. Hasn't been going well of late, but i'm just gambling on him improving in this class on the rain affected ground. Sea Drive is a nice horse and can put in some good runs when he wants to. Is not without a show tomorrow. Milady Clang can go alright too, last run was OK - she wasn't given much chance to make up ground.

Race 5 - Thought My Son Day would win this on good going. The wet has dulled my opinion a touch, but i still think he's a little bit better than most of these. Coming out of those tough 3yo races into this 0MW race will be of benefit i imagine and Byrne is riding as well as he ever has. Testify ran into a superstar last time, and theres no Man Of Illusion here so he's not without a chance from the 1 with the claim. Amber Lodge has a shocking alley but has good wet form and was a good run first up behind Coincidental - will take benefit from that run.

Race 6 - Don't really care here to be honest. Have never rated the stayers races in Brisbane and have never had any success in them. For the record, my selections are Double Portion, Appleby and Fires of Ireland. Have left out the main fancies because i want a bigger price :) (no reflection on whether i think they can win or not)

Race 7 - This is the race that the rain has destroyed. Sir Brekky hates the wet, as does Show Biz Kid by the looks of it. Imperialism just ran out of condition last time behind Triple Pe. I can see him being positioned perfectly behind the speed runners tomorrow, and i think he'll go close. Gumnuts was an uncharacterisitic flop last time (don't know the reason...) but he's better than that and has handled the wet before. Black Suit has continued to surprise me throughout his runs in town so i can't see any reason why he won't keep running well, and go close tomorrow.

Race 8 - Not the greatest one to finish on, again. Thought there was one here at good odds. Craiglea Bob. Has performed on slow tracks before and was seem getting to the line really well last time in superior company. The outside alley is a concern, but he'll go back and with the good speed likely here, he's worth a shot i think. Generalissimo has been in great form lately, and with the 1 alley and Byrne, has to be a huge show. Pride of Paris should improve off the first up run too, could bob-up at long odds.

As is probably evident, my picks tomorrow have been done assuming an affected track. If it ends up being on the better side of dead (or even good), then they all go out the window :)

That being said, my best tomorrow are Nova Star and My Son Day with a good value hope to Craiglea Bob...

Good luck all

Sven

R6. only covering 2 races here.
'Classic Carla has most of these covered...I think Appleby and Double Portion the dangers ahead of the southerners Zacielo and Beau.' Applyby won't even place.

R6. Classic Karla [won on it last week] will get done by this weight [a good lay]. Double Portion was beaten to death last week and Beau will slaughter both. Watch on Zacieco [needs good track]. Will walk over the top of all of them if it's half right [erratic]. Jockey though is big concern. Beau for mine.

R7.Imperialism has the speed and right weight. Sir. Breakfast perhaps a bit too much weight.Enthusiasm the danger to both. 1/3/4/11 box for the tri. 1/4 exacta.

Cheers.

Off to Eagle Farm today.
Will keep an eye on the drum from you all today and hope we snag a winner or 2.

3 bets for me.
Bris R5 Testify. Boy caught wide from ordinary alley last time, if the rail is the place to be he should just about win. Each way odds would be a bonus.

Bris R6 Zaacielo, there is not many of these that could be competitive in Melb round carnival time. The state of the the track may be a bit of a concern though, might go a bit easy here.

Syd R4 Seek the truth. (Yes yes,I know this is a Bris thread ) as a roving banker with the field for a full.

All the best and good punting.

Does anyone give one of my all time favs Kootoomootoo a chance in the last?
No doubt ill back him, but is he still up to this class?

Sportz 26th November 2005 12:20 PM

Scenic Wells was incredible value. Couldn't believe it. And a nice easy trifecta. Good start to the day. :)

Looked up his extended form. Needs a good track. Buckley's chance in the wet in any race.

Sportz 26th November 2005 12:42 PM

Crash,

I think it'll probably be a good track by that point, or so close to good that it makes no difference.
