Just the 8 nominations for next Sat's SAN DOMENICO STAKES over 1000m at Randwick (worth $150,000)

1.ATHELNOTH, 2.CALAWAY GAL, 3.CHOCOLATE STARFISH, 4.EASTWEST SUCCESS, 5.JESTERS LAD, 6.MASKERADO, 7.STAR OF FLORIDA & 8.STRICTLY SMART.

Small field, what do ya like?

If Star of Florida runs anywhere near his last start effort, he will be extremely hard to beat, i think this horse has something special.

Calaway Gal won a recent barrier trial by 5 lengths hard held!

Looks to be 4 genuine chances - Star of Florida, Maskerado, Calaway Gal & Eastwest Success. Hard to go past Star of Florida, however if something does take him on in front, could fall into the hands of Calaway Gal. Maskerado looks the type that with a sit (and close enough) could worry SoF out of it.

Star of Florida could be one right out of the bag. If he is & the track is good / fast, could also break the 1000m 56.2 record.

Paddy,
here are my prices for San Domenico Stakes. CalGal 64 Star Of Flor. 31 Eastwest Succ. 91 Maskerado 16 Athelnoth 16 Strictly Smt. 50. Star of Florida could be exceptional but he is a bleeder and Calaway Gal has the runs on the board. Eastwest Success has not been tested against quality so hard to gauge his class. All in all makes for a very interesting race but Calaway Gal is a genuine filly and I will be taking the 6/4 if I can get it.

Well, not surprising to many, Star of Florida had a comfortable win. Thought he had a lot left, at the finish. Lookin forward to his next step out.

Well done Paddy. He does look like one hell of a sprinter doesn't he. I am poorer but wiser for the experience.
