Hard luck story

Just need to vent at what has happend.

I recently fluked a Derby/ Doncaster to get a large collect which i was very excited about. I then used some of those winnings to place a double on the Sir Byrne / S.A Express Oaks as follows:

All Bar One / Marju Snip to win $23,000 and All Bar One / Brockmans Lass to win $9,800. I was absolutely rapt on Sat to win more than i have ever won before when Marju Snip saluted!!

I looked at my account to see i had not been paid as yet which prompted me to call the betting agency.

What i had done is make the double into the S.A Oaks not the Express S.A Oaks as intended.

Firstly its my own fault by not realising what race i was placing the bet on- but how stupid to have two Oaks races in the same state one week of each other.

I am devestated especially as Marju Snip is unlikely to run this Sat in teh Oaks and on Sat's run Brockmans Lass has very small chance of winning.

I can't believe how i have gone from such a big collect to probably nothing - devestated!!!

That is very hard luck indeed Collingwood.

What causes this is the ridiculous name changes to all the races, very confusing. The S.A. Oaks should be the S.A. Oaks end of story.

I know the sponsors are crucial to racing, but I'm one with tradition, keeping the history of racing intact.

The Victoria Derby would still be the Victoria Derby, "sponsored by AAMI", not the AAMI Victoria Derby.

If they think that changing the name of the race, creates greater awareness of the product, they are sadly mistaken. The real benefit to the company is having a presence on track, a speech, a trophy, and signage - not the race name.

Sorry to hear of your woe.

Thanks you for taking the time out to respond gents. It was hard sleeping last night.

I guess i still have a chance of Brockmans Lass getting up and giving me good return but it was a hard fall from the high of saturday afternoon to yesterday's realisation.

Does anyone have a sense of whether Marju Snip will run or whether Brockmans Lass is a chance in the S.A Oaks?

I am hanging on to what little hope there is!

Cheers
Collingwood.

definitely unlucky.
You wouldnt think they would have doubles over two weekends for races like the byrnehart - sa oaks. You would think the double would have occurred on the same weekend.

By the way I think BL is going for a spell.
