Doomben's best Lays today [?]
r1/15 Prince Arther [slow as a wet week]
r5/13 Game on [came to brisb. as a class 2 horse and stepping up to Group at odds for idiots] r8/8 Mesmerizing [it's going to win with bar plates on?] Purser's thoughts anyway and worth noting:-) Feel free to add your own. For mine: Virage de fortune. After it's last dodgy run, I think it need a big rest and will be ridiculously short as the mug's champion today. Humble pie for me today? I wouldn't bet on it:-) |
Prince Arthur didn't seem too slow today. Or perhaps the others were just incredibly slow!!!
|
I wouldn't discount the latter option there Sportz....:)

Well, apparently, it was a new class record, and not far outside the long standing track record. So, I definitely don't think he's a slow horse. But it is also probably a more suitable track for fast times today rather than the tracks that he raced on at his previous starts that led Phil to call him "slow".

lays hehehe
might make game on and mesmerizing specials now. hehehe.

Let Purcer know your opinions [they weren't mine]. I just re-printed them for interest.
Game On was my substitute in the Brisbane comp for that race, so hardly my opinion. I was dead right about Virage de fortune though [my only opinion on lays], so stick that up your jumpers, especially those that tipped it !! |
Game on the biggest lay of the day...ran better than i thought and you'd think he'll be ok in Ipswich cup or something..
|
I think he will go on to very good things Mav.
I've had him in my black book for awhile and was quiet surprised by Purcer's opinion. I'm sure old Bart would be having a bit of a chuckle about Purcer's comments [if he read them] about his Prince Arthur. I do admire Purcer's courage to put up his views before the day. It's easy for punter's to kick sand in his face afterward [I wonder how they went?], but none of us in the comp. did any good with our 'winning' selections [I nailed belmonte for a small win, but lost on the day] as only feather and breadman come out in front yesterday. Anyone who read Purcer's article would also have notice he said 'to be very suspicious of anything with a short price and to look wide'. He was certainly spot on there. I've enjoyed some very profitable tips from Purcer on many Saturdays at juicy odds when he has had it right [quite often]. Everyone has their off days and very few have the courage to put their convictions as up front as he does. We are all ************p.e.r.t. [that word now won't print in this forum because it's connected to you know who] after the event and no one was disagreeing with him until then:-) |
I totally agreed with him about Game On...he had to dig deep last start to beat Abu Simbel and Lambretta ..both rated now by me in the dog food category...
He did well yesterday but did have the good run,,Ipswich Cup around that course will suit....E/f and Caloundra mightn suit with the long straights but he looks as if he could run allday...send him to England.. I think anyone who posts there thoughts or tips are very brave...on some forums you'd get attacked if you were wrong and the same people ignore you when your right....we do it for fun but he gets paid for it so he has to expect the wrath of the general public when he gets it wrong,,,These paper tipsters especially the tab seem lucky to get 2 winners a meet in three selections and they dont have to answer to anyone..i want there job :) |
I'd agree with those sentiments Mav. but your a bit off mark about him being paid for his views. He's not. Apart from the 3 horses I mentioned originally, he canned Tuban as well! I had an em from him last night and he said [I've edited some personal stuff out]:
''The first one winning was bad enough - then Turban who can't run a sectional in Sydney to bless itself, bolts in as well. .....that wasn't a good day at the office! The only positive is it can't get any worse - OR CAN IT?! Suppose it could ............. .....................and thank God for that thing flying up along the fence or Game On would have won, as you alluded too. I'll have to go to bed now - but at least I shouldn't have any nightmares - as I already had them today during daylight hours!" |
