Eagle Farm Saturday

Race 1,
Not an easy race as it seems to start off...all the rage is Phoenix Express and does deserve notice,,i was on this horse last start and he ran on well considering the pace of that race was very muddling.....the pace off this race might be sort of the same with no real leaders engaged...Kantoshi Millions and Cut of the Caper look the ones to go forward...Kantoshi if he can dictate alittle in front will give a lot of cheek in this..the horse is racing better than ever...Craiglee Bob against this lot is well in even with the weight,,,should get the nice sit on the rail and will loom up in the straight somewhere....and then theres all my old friend Chut ,,,i vowed never to back this horse again after he lost for me a few times....he does however have everything in his favour in this race,,,has a great jockey, the track , the distance ,,,and has gained fitness from some good lead ups,,,his run at the Gold Coast was excellent ,,he just jumped out of the ground...I'm guessing Phoenix will be around the 3's and Chut around the 8's ,,i really think that Chut now hes minus the crown jewels has turned the corner...i think Colless can get the best out of him and at the better odds i'll be on......(perette rates high,,,Stewart kills it for me though)
Chut / Pheonix Express,,,,Craiglee Bob/Kantoshi Millions,,,,Nediyms Image/Perrette

Race 2,
Its taking me awhile to warm to Roman Squire but after seeing him in the flesh and watching him run live i really think this horse has a future....even could take that next step...i worry alittle about the pace in this race aswell but i'm very impressed with Roman Squire and i think he'll be to good,,,Elegant Roi looks the leader and after last starts effort is going to be very hard to beat again...Regimental also finished hard last start and didnt have much luck at all....
Roman Squire,,,,Elegant Roi/Regimental/Divine Conqueror,,,Succeeding..

Race 3,
Pagan County runs on every race...some would think better suited over longer but i disagree...this horse has an excellent 1000m record and just because hes a backmarker doesnt mean he needs it longer...theres a stack of speed in this and i think Pagan County suited with the roomy straight will finish over them...odds look good so far..
Pagan County,,,Covet Gold/Stolit/Diamonds am I

Race 4
Imperilism in this field just looks to good for them,,,this horse is classy and only needs to be 80% to win this,,the barrier means he'll be able to go to sleep on the rail and will be hard to hold out in the straight...
one at odds i've been waiting for here is Vocalic,,this horse is racing very well,,,i admit when he beat Mosso on the sticky i thought nothing of it,,being a funny surface and all,,but his last 2 runs have been excellent with no luck at all,,,he gets no weight here and worth a look for sure...maybe be able to back both...or maybe Vocalis e/w as Imperilism will have support and maybe to short..the speedy Renouf should give the backmarkers there chance,,
Imperilism/Vocalic,,,,Renouf/Viovode/general Patton

Race 5,
Match race between Mitanni and Bikie,,,,,,if Mitanni leads easily he wins,,if something pressures him Bikie Wins...looks a no value race...i'd guess a horse like Adavale Hornett might try and lead this as its his only chance,,,if he does get pushed out of the gates and leads at a good tempo Bikie has to be the one....
looks a look on race for me ..

Race 6.
Wow what an open race is this,,,,should be 6's the field.....I'm a fan of Friscos Vision,,this horse will atleast be up on the speed and give you a good run for your money,,,hard to miss Classic Alibi's run last start and Lady of Courage was also very good...
these the top 3 for me,,,..I have Friscos Vision on top and on the better ground i think he'll be hard to catch..Clasic Alabi rates very high to...might be able to back both....
Frisco's Vision/Classic Alabi

Race 7,
Another very open race....Borroloola Lad showed excellent speed last start and will be fiitter for the run..has a good barrier and the claim helps...will give a good sight for your money...Bucks Secret performs well here and will be running on...
Private Frisco/Dangerous Host there abouts..

Race 8,
I took on Rasmussen last start as i thought he wouldnt be able to cross and lead ,,,well he did cross and lead and dictated and won very well...Socialist hit the line well in that same race and is in this again ..you can bet Carl will be taking off that little bit earlier this time....I have Thats better up the front with Rasmussen and this should mean the lightly raced Gelding wont get it easy like last time....So Socialist and Sweet Ransom gets there chance...Socialist with the race fitness alittle ahead of Sweet Ransom at this stage..
Socialist/Sweet Ransom,,Rassmussen/Thats Better

Best Bets....Roman Squire ,Imperilism,Pagan County
Best ew/s... Chut,Friscos Vision, Socialist,Vocalic

Sydney
Lang,Artistique,Angel Girl,Gold Edition
Melbourne
Sweet n Tidy, Gold Attire, Apache Cat,Correct Amondo
Adelaide
Flying Pheonix, Urbane Boy, Jims Party, Exalted Ego
Gold Coast
Marfia Hunter, Refs Call

Good Luck all :)

G'day Mav,

Small fields at EF today...which is not ideal if you want a big price, but we'll manage :). No rain here for ages, so the track should be fine.

Race 1 - Pathetic one to start on. I've settled on Kanetoshi Millions. His figures are more consistent than most of these and altho he hasn't got the perceived 'brilliance' of some of his opposition, i'm just playing the odds. Chut isn't one you'd put $1 on and be confident, but he may just go better the Brisbane way of going and might be worth some sort of look in this race. Nediyms Image is a nice horse when right too, has won well up north a few times too, which puts him in with some sort of chance here.

Race 2 - Don't mind Elegant Roi here. Was a top win last time and altho on face value the 1600m seems to be a worry, i think he'll be fine if Taylor can get him an OK run near the lead. Roman Squire is the sort of horse i normally jump for in these races - the lightly raced one who gets back and runs on (and is normally very erratic for some reason). I just think the speed might be dubious here and for that reason he might be too far back. Having said that, good ones can beat it....but hes too short for me at this point. Succeeding won well last time but that was mares class. She has topweight and is, for mine, meeting a better field here. Can run past some of these at the death, but i doubt can win.

Race 3 - Good even race. I've settled on Monashee Knight at odds here. The last 2 runs have been very good and the breed are going extra well at present. Seamer should be able to give him a good enough sit from the alley....he'll do me. Stolit will improve on the first run (which was excellent) giving him a top chance of making it 2 wins from 2. The alley is a problem, but just needs some luck to feature. Covet Gold has some great form, but is just too short for me to want to get on. Having said that, you can't knock a horse too much who has won 2 from 2. The 4 alley and 3 off for Plumb (who rides well) just add icing to the cake.

Race 4 - I like 2 at odds here. My Best Tycoon and Renouf. My Best Tycoon, i'd say, will appreciate the extra journey of todays event. His last few have been around 1000-1100 and he may just have lost some of the zip required to win those events. Up to the 1200m and given some good speed in this race, i think he can run well. Renouf will be on pace and frequently improves a lot on his 1st up runs. Given that the last run was OK, and that Stewart can just jump straight to the front, he is worth a show. I also note there has been good money in early markets for him. General Patton was a good run last time behind Naval Seal and with some speed on here, and with the longer straight, he can worry some of these at the end.

Race 5 - Don't really care, to be honest. Its between Mitanni and Bikkie Tin Blues obviously, but its not a betting event. Maybe Mitanni because he'll be on the pace, but BTB is the better stayer. Adavale for 3rd.

Race 6 - King of Trumps, Lady of Courage, Frisco's Vision. Too hard.

Race 7 - Facing The Breeze is the one i like here. The wide alley is a problem, given that a lot of these like to go forward, but i'm just hoping for a reasonable alley. If she gets in, i think she wins. Her first start this track and distance was fantastic and if she returns to anything like that....well good luck to her opposition. Fleeting Echo should be forgiven the last run and assessed on the previous effort at the Sunny Coast. There was good money at Doomben last time and with the 3 off here, don't leave him out. Private Frisco for 3rd who won very well last time at the coast, and has been very consistent of late.

Race 8 - Well, you're a brave man Mav....taking on Rasmussen. He won in great fashion last time and given that was only his 3rd start there is still improvement there. With the huge amount of speed he showed last time, i don't think any of these can keep up (or would really want to). Very short, but i wouldn't be seen backing anything to beat him. Socialist is a nice horse, always gets back but can produce a great finishing burst. Doubt he can turn the tables, but can account for the rest of em. Thats Better is also a nice horse when right and is a place chance.

Good luck everyone

Sven

G'day Guys,

I reckon I'll only have a couple of bets at Eagle Farm today.

In the 5th, Bikkie Tin Blues looks the obvious winner, but his price is far too short for me. I'll have a value bet on Harbour Magic. It ran 2nd in it's only race of 1800m. Forrester will be trying hard to beat Radenker on Mitanni after coming 2nd to them last start. I think 1800m will be just a bit too far for Mitanni. Adavale Hornet has a good record over the distance, but Mitanni and Harbour Magic beat it comfortably last start over 1630m. Might have Bikkie Tin Blues and Harbour Magic in an exacta.

In the 8th, Chasin' Tail's only win at the 1200m came at Eagle Farm, and it will be carrying 2.5kg less than it's last start (after apprentcie claims). I think it's best chance on winning is to either lead from the start or be very handy, and it will have a good chance, as it's drawn the 2nd barrier. Rasmussen is the main danger. It managed to win from the wide barrier last start, and draws similarly again today. It will be Rasmussen's race to lose, but like Bikkie Tin Blues, it will be priced too short for me to bet. I'll just stick with a value bet on Chasin' Tail.

Good luck at Eagle Farm today.
