Anyone see the first race at Werribee? It was a jumps race but the favourite was odds-on on all three totes. Would anyone here even consider backing an odds-on horse in a hurdle? Odds-on on a normal race is too risky for my liking but odds-on on a hurdle is just insanity as too many things can go wrong. In this case the favourite lost the rider at the first jump so a lot of punters were out of pocket before the race was 30 seconds old.

Actually I did back a handy jumper trained by Rick Hore-Lacy many years ago called Fast Food. It started odds on many times and I backed it every win. Was a great thrill, but now I am older and wiser, would never back odds on in any race - let alone jumps races.

By the way - is there still a grandstand at Werribee or did the angry punters tear the roof off after the horse fell at the first?
