Miss Finland

Whats going on with that ride? Will we hear more?

xanadu 7th October 2006 03:07 PM

Time will tell. Do you remember the lead up to the Golden Slipper....will the "untouchables" be required to explain.....?

Cheers.

Don't know if we'll hear more, but judging by David Hayes response from Sydney Craig Williams might hear a lot, with many expletives included in the conversation.

TVN's explanation regarding sectionals certainly puts things into perspective regarding Miss Finland's run.
What sort of a day is C. Williams having currently, with Dance Hero breaking through the barrier?
Although, his ride was OK-no problem( I was on Fast 'N' Famous-taking that "mexican" money is so sweet)!
If you have watched D Hayes in some of his post-race interviews you would note that he can be very succinct in his appraisal(s) of his top jockey's performance.
Then again, he had that Group 1 winner in Sydney(SR6 Tawqeet $18.7w $5.2plNSW) to soothe his pain(and I also was on it)!
Perfect "cups" horse, I certainly think so but we will have to monitor it's progress leading up to the big races.
Stix....we are certainly enjoying J O'Shea's success!

Cheers.

Deja vu?

Punters will recollect in the autumn when in the race prior to the Golden Slipper, Miss Finland was ridden "upside-down" then of course went on to win the Slipper at it's next start.
Interestingly, last start, Miss Finland appeared to be ridden "upside down," with "tearaway" tactics being employed and of course it was found wanting in the run to the line costing punters many $100k's.
We will be watching with great interest to see what tactics are employed today.....punters, you will have to make up your own mind whether it's last run was an aberration and whether it warrants a sizeable wager today.

Cheers.

Deja Vu all over again !!

xanadu 18th October 2006 03:11 PM

That's right, discipline pays,.....well, what can you say?
Miss Finland certainly is a "class" filly and won in a driving finish.
However, did you notice the complete change in riding tactics?
As "Pauline" would say: "please explain....!"
I anticipated this improved performance so I am not talking through my pocket....quite the contrary!
However, shouldn't questions be asked?

Cheers.

Sportz 18th October 2006 03:21 PM

Did anyone seriously expect the horse was going to lead today? Surely not?

I agree that questions needed to be asked after the previous run, but not this one. I'm sure that most people expected the horse to be ridden back today. The only problem was that if anything, it was ridden TOO FAR back!

xanadu 18th October 2006 04:34 PM

Yeah, righto, Sportz,

In that case who do think should have asked those questions?
I reiterate.....aren't connections of all runners obliged to advise the stewards and betting public regarding any proposed change in riding tactics?

Cheers.

Yes they are but I think what Sportz is saying is that her pattern of racing today was closer to her usual racing pattern and most punters would have expected her to be ridden back. Her last race however was the odd one out.
