Running Doubles

Gday ALL

NSW has finally adopted RD's... When I have been in VIC I always thought that running doubles were the way to go if you are using ratings.. throw the top 3 or 4 in or all the horses you have priced in single figures... A lot of time they appear to pay way better than all ups... What do you pple think about em... I know the pools in NSW are still small, but I think there is cash there to be made..

Cheers

It is easy to calculate the effective single race rake for a n-leg race by taking the nth root of the return (= 1-rake).

So a 17% Double has a single race rake of 8.89%.

And a 16% Quad has a single race rake of 4.27%.

This is far superior to 16% Win rakes before rounding down.

If you want to get a feel for biases in doubles markets I suggest you check out Betfair Soccer Accumulators. Last time I looked short price combos were overbacked.

Would that be what we Americans call a rolling double, where you have one in every race but the 1st?

Glenn

Nope. 2 races in a row.

can be any race as the first race. It is not an all up bet either, we have certain pools for running doubles.
