Can I just say this is the most inhumane thing I have ever seen the race should be no more than 5000m it is just asking for a boatload of horse to be destroyed by the end of it, not to mention injuries to jockeys.

A 40 horse field over I think 7000m or whatever it is over 30 fences is just asking for a hell of alot of carnage.

4 miles 856 yards x 30 fences, yes you have a point, but remember Red Rum?? the above won me fame and fortune when the question came up in a quizz night, i.e. the exact distance, wow, I hope my memory hasn't failed me cos that was about 20 years ago+
