Real Deal 18th April 2007 09:11 PM

What are the 3 prices you list next to a successful runner?

Sportz 19th April 2007 07:09 AM

Those are American divs, Real Deal. Over there, instead of Win & Place, they have Win, Place & Show. Show is like our Place dividend (1st, 2nd or 3rd) while Place is only 1st or 2nd. And the divs listed are for a $2 unit as well.

Hi Pharfromoz,

congradulations on your results.

What selection method do you use.

Well done.

thanks

has to do with the shape of your tracks.

there is one track in melbourne that is a huge prep track for horses.

the turn coming for home is a killer and the stretch is short. horses that come off the pace and end up finishing in the middle to 1st i play next out at other tracks.

then:
horses for courses
finding horses that are racing at the proper distances
track conditions- raceday compared to previous.
j/t combos

just the basics.

i dont like all that fancy analysis stuff.it just makes you change your mind and gets you off horses you probably would of had in the first place.

Pharfromoz,

Interesting angle.
Your obviously talking about Moonee Valley as a "prep"track.
My only query with your method re transfering the form to other tracks is the difference in surface.
Being in the US are you aware that MV is a Strathayr surface?
Bit softer underfoot than the other tracks(without any rain).
Suits some horses and not others.
Given your good results thus far, doesn't seem to be holding you back.
Unless of course you are talking about Caulfield.
Anyway, good luck and continued success with it.
Cheers from OZ!!!

didnt know that. it could be a factor. but if you watch horses that come off the pace at moonee valley going the shorter distances that turn is not kind at all.most go wide and have no time to recover because of the shorter distance to the wire. they will tend to end up about mid pack or behind the winners. i just transfer that to other tracks. there are some tracks that it does not work at all (balarat)and some tracks where it works super(caulfield).

and of course there are more factors that go in to finalizing a pick.
