Video tapes and split times are the key.

You need to know how the hound runs. Picture yourself behind the boxes, it becomes obvious that the side on shots don't show the true picture, a bit like the overhead shots they display during the Spring Carnival.

Some dogs spear the boxes but run sideways and always into trouble unless they have the right box draw. Knowing how the hound will run from the box coupled with split times will tell you the likelihood of leading or getting into trouble.

The times alone won't tell you this.

I would suggest getting old videos and studying them carefully frame by frame. You'll soon learn what to look for and how it can be used. I've never had the time to master it properly but those that put in the time reap the rewards.

Mad Gambler,

Stick to distance races ( 520+ ) and concentrate on good dogs. One of things you need to find are dogs that stay out of trouble ( no C for checked in formline).

If you want an all round system look at favs coming out of boxes 3,4,5,6

They are overlays in general.

Good Luck
