Geelong Artificial Track

Anyone else have some misgivings regarding this track?
For that matter does anyone have an opinion regarding the effect these tracks have on the betting public and of course, betting turnover?
I acknowledge that we have had an extraordinary winter with the rain deluge we have endured after many years of drought but in my opinion the texture and gradient of these new surfaces makes form study a whole new ball-game.
Not necessarily for the better, either.....!
Acton in the ACT is another track for the betting public to be wary of.... IMO.
There is talk in Sydney of the need for an all-weather track and no doubt it will eventually be built....but....at what cost to the betting public?
Sure, form students will adapt to the changed circumstances but will betting turnover increase....I think not....as in my case I am very wary when wagering on these venues.
Any thoughts on this matter?

Cheers.

imho,
the track races fairly with a slight leader bias, which horses handle it? well which horses handle turf? its an intangible question, but from what ive seen there is only the odd roughie win, id say a higher % of faves win there than any other track.

Good point,

however, I will monitor this track and see how things unfold.
Thnx for your comment.

Cheers.

What's the alternative? At this time of year, a "Heavy 10" or "abandoned"???

We've seen the advantage of the Geelong track ever since it opened because they've already managed to transfer about 3 or 4 meetings there which otherwise would have been completely washed out. The only problem so far has been the small number of distances they can race at on the Geelong track. That certainly needs fixing. But otherwise, I think it's a great thing.

I'm betting cautiously there until I know more about the track. Just one bet today - Brough Superior. But after it's been in use for a while, I don't see why you shouldn't be able to bet with confidence there.

Hi Guys,

I find it so far a very horses for courses track.

4 bets today all who had won or run well at the track past month.

Punkd won

Brough Superior won

Valrossi won

July unp (wide barrier should not have bet).

I tend it to be more transparent and consistent than most tracks. Like it or not you can do your form knowing what your going to get.

Otherwise echo Sportz thoughts.

Great progress.

Good points fellas,

Maybe just a bit more form study required before we can work out the idiosyncrasys of this particular track.
Until then I intend to tread very warily.
Thanks for your comments.

Cheers.

yep give it 1 year- 18 months and the form should be as reliable as turf form :)
