BettyBoop 29th September 2002 05:08 PM

Thanks Sandgroper. Took your first two picks with the field in the tri (flexi) - got nice share of $1,123.20!

Good to hear you had a win BettyBoop. I snared a nice slice of the tri myself.

In the end, only backed Noble Sheikh - as the banker in multiples - got some amazing overs.

Thought that Noble Sheikh (in form) and suited by what I thought would be fast pace, was a good bet for the multiples. Worked out as predicted (doesn't happen enough)!

According to the York-Beverley Turf Club, they are not closing down as was reported in press recently. Racing is set to resume at York again in May next year.

The club is currently negotiating with the WA Turf Club, which has not yet allocated race dates for next year.

Negotiations include proposals on how the club would again be viable.

This may mean more Sunday meetings, with a mixture of mid-week meetings.

It seems that from August 1 next year, the WA Turf Club will lose its control on the country racing industry and will have the same standing as just another race club.

The WA State Government plans to establish a new body to control all racing, trotting and dogs meetings and will run the TAB.

Each club will then apply to the new body for fixtures and conditions under which racing will take place.

Also there are plans to expand the training complex at Lark Hill, south of Rockingham into a commercial race course.

It is reported that Lark Hill will become the new midweek winter racing headquarters for the State with about 50 meetings to be scheduled there.
