Sandgroper 11th October 2002 10:44 AM

Just about to depart for what will be a great “long” weekend down south.

Only social punting for me this weekend, but have managed to rate the Ruabon Stakes for tomorrow.

We return to Ascot next week.

Good luck to the connections of WA horses racing at Caulfield tomorrow –Stormy’s Son (R1), Tribula (R2) & Shot of Thunder (R8)

Belmont race 5 - Ruabon Stakes

3 Kaprats (0.00 len) – back from a 2months break, might not be right on best but still the top chance.

8 Irish Pride (0.25 len) – mixed success at Kalgoorlie.

6 Master Park & 5 Storm Shot (0.50 len) – MP freshened up, equal best rating last start, SS best rating last start.

2 Fair Alert (0.75 len) – 1st up from a spell, goes well fresh, likely leader who could get an easy run in front.

4 Kensyl Bay & 11 Shake My Hand (1.00 len) – KB will be improved by the run, still a chance, SMH performing OK but racing a bit below best.

7 Mr Callahan (1.25 len) – last run bit below best.

1 Old Fashion & (12) Shane’s Boy (1.50 len) – OF back from a spell, goes extremely well fresh, likely favourite, SB last couple of runs a bit below best.

10 Senate Lease (1.75 len) – Just below this class, but honest and could be placed at odds.

9 Friendly Manna (3.25 len) – looks outclassed

13 White Foil (5.00 len) – been freshened up but 3 runs since spell all way below best. A chance on best form, but prepared to wait for any sign of improvement.

Enjoy your long weekend Sandgroper!
Certainly seems to be a lot of chances in the RUABON STAKES at Belmont tomorrow.

Do like the chances of 5 STORM SHOT - last start very good winner 2nd up (even fitter tomorrow), top hoop, loves this course & distance, and back in April this year ran a close 2nd to Old Fashion over 1400m & meets that horse 4kg better!

Gidday Groper,
Have an nice cool one in the South, while I'm sweating it out up here in the North.
I'll have a go at the first four races for you then, still working on the rest!
Race 1 Halo Magic - last start 3rd but beat the other contenders in this race home, Hot Shot & Handshandi
Race 2 Dream Of Storms - last start 3rd to Twilight Spy is the best form in this race.
Race 3 Twilight Spy - see above. Hide The Halo will be close.
Race 4 Annapak - this one's a lottery. Placid Park, Adarka Grey , Dark & Dangerous will all be thereabouts.
Hope to see at least one winner in that lot!!
Cheers.

PS Fair Alert won a pretty hot trial at Belmont on 1st Oct. 57.5 secs for the 1,000 m., with Jason Brown on board.

Well done Sandgroper, first four from top 5 selections, and Master Park paid $29.30 & $7.30 on NSW TAB.

I still cant believe Master Park's price, amazing!

Stormy’s Son just got pipped, thought Tribula a bit disappointing, and Shot of Thunder won in a close one.

You did OK Rain Lover – 1200m a bit too far for Halo Magic at this point in time. Hot Shot Brother actually rated just below best in winning, more improvement on the way.

Dream Of Storms a grinding win, rated equal best. Hide The Halo just pipped by Vain Zoe who managed best rating in winning – Vain Zoe is still on the improve after winning previous 4 starts in a row.

And Annapak, just pipped by another of your selections, Dark & Dangerous.

Thanks Groper. I did manage to keep my head above water on the day. Had I known Master Park was going to pay 25's I would have had a piece. I was on him last start, when he beat the Tin Man and only got 9/2! What's even worse is that but for M P I would have had the quaddie!
I'm flying down for opening day at Ascot on Saturday, and hope to empty a few bookies satchels!
Cheers.
