Consider what happens if most tote punters learn from the experts how to correctly take sensible trifecta combinations and do not take the short priced favourite for first.

Are they really doing the right thing?

What about the minority of punters then who are doing the wrong thing according to the experts and taking trifecta combinations with the short priced favourite to win?

Are they still doing the wrong thing?

I have spent quite a bit of time in TAB branches and I would have to say that most tote punters wouldn't know an expert if they fell over one. 95% of them lose money day after day but keep coming back and doing the same thing so they obviously don't learn from their mistakes! There are literally thousands of mug punters out there whose total racing education amounts to reading the tipster in their preferred paper or watching the "experts" on Sky - if a few of the smarter ones read this forum and change their behaviour it will not make much difference at all (a proverbial "drop in the ocean").
