The Big Three Racing Comp
 

This is a another fantasy style racing comp, but we're concentrating on just the 3 big ones - the Caulfield Cup, the Cox Plate and the Melbourne Cup.

Everyone will have a different set of 3 horses running for them and they'll be chosen this way.......

Firstly you nominate 12 horses from the list of 110 horses below in your order of preference. There is no salary cap to worry about, although the points assigned to each horse is important to look at to decide whether a horse is good value or not. The only rule when posting your 12 horses is that you must choose at least 3 horses from Group B and at least 1 horse from Group C.

When I say to nominate 12 horses in order of preference, that's exactly what I mean. Don't just post them in order from largest points value to lowest. Put them in order from 1-12 of which ones you would most like to have in your stable.

When the deadline is up and everyone has posted their preferences, then I'll use a random number generator to conduct a draft and that will be how your 3 horses are chosen. I won't be taking part in the comp, just in case anyone was worried about the fairness of the draft. With the draft, there is no guarantee you will end up with your number 1 pick. Or even your number 2 or 3, but as a rule, you should still end up with a horse high up on your list.

Once the draft has been finished, the points total of your 3 horses will be taken away from 50 to give you your starting point score. So, if for example, your 3 horses are worth 12, 6 and 2 points, then 20 points will be taken away from 50 to give you a starting score of 30 points. It is then up to your horses to build on that score by earning points in the 3 races.

Sorry, I guess I should have pointed that out. It's for all 3 races.

The 3 horses that you end up with can earn points in all 3 races. And that is factored into the points values given to each horse. For example, Speed Gifted is favourite for the Caulfield Cup AND 2nd favourite for the Melbourne Cup. That's why it's points value is so much higher than the others. So that's another thing to take into consideration.
