POT, SR, Ave Div on Quin Multis

G'Day Punters....

Can somone pls confirm how i best calculate POT, SR and AVE DIV when I am having multi quinellas.

For example , last Sat had seven races to bet on from my race qualification rules. After sorting through the horse qualification rules i then placed 1 unit bet on 1 runner roving banker and three others to quinella it with the rover. (ie $3 bet per race , 3 combinations per bet)

i had three quinellas get up at $14.80, $10.90 and $4.80 respectively. two of the four misses were first and third so i want to start getting some better records going and see where this sytem heads.

my return for the day was return $31.50 outlay $21 profit $10 50 ....POT 45% (ret - out / out x 100)

so far so good?

for the strike rate calculation do I calculate it as 3 hits out of 7 bets or should i calculate as 3 hits out of 21 combinations?

if i calc 3 out of 7 SR = 42% 3 out of 21 SR = 14%

same for the ave div should i divide the total collect of $30.50 by the three
winning bets or the 21 combinations that went into the wining bets as well?

if i calc 3 returns for $30.50 AVE/DIV $10.50 if 21 for $30.50 AVE/DIV $1.45

obviously the divide by combo calc cant work long term and conversely the divide by bets calc indicate something to go on with.

any answers/suggestions/advice most appreciated.

Rgds...Glenno

As your math. suggests it comes down to mere semantics.
Do you call a bet with a roving banker and three others a single bet or a multiple bet? The end result is the same so I would call it a single bet.

However!!!

If you want to have correct statistics AND want to know which of your selections perform badly, or well as it may be, I would record them separately like: first/sec. first/third, first/fourth etc.

You may find that some of them (in your horse selection) are not worth considering either as a rover or as second etc.

Good luck
