Place Bet ..v.. Exacta

Over the last couple of years i have been predominantly a win only bettor. the last 3 months or so i have been using my win selection to come 2nd with the field for first in an exacta. It throws up some massive results.
Not sure how this can be tested, but it seems to be a better option than having a place bet on. I have been using a 1:5 ratio.. ie. $50 for the win $10 on the exacta.
some of yesterdays results
br 1.. **** $83
br 4.. **** $130
br 6.. **** $352
sr 3.. **** $30
sr 7.. **** $121
mr 2..**** $507
mr 5..**** $95
mr 9.. **** $33

largest one i have got over the time i have been doing it payed $900.
Saturdays seem to throw up the bigger divvies, but there have been some nice collects during the week.
Without accurate figures i do know that it has been far more rewarding to have the exacta, than the same dollar value on a place bet..

Any thoughts??

"ie. $50 for the win $10 on the exacta"

in your example is that $10 per exacta combo luv2bet?
e.g. field of 15 including your main selection = $140 bet on the exacta
or $10 total bet on exacta?

thanks

$10 bet on exacta regardless of field size.

10 horse field, field for first, my selection for 2nd. 9x1. 1 full unit is $9

cheers luv2bet thanks
flexi-bet for 12+ horse field?
don't think my tab gives flexi option for exactas
does yours?

unitab does flexi bets on them, as well as a number of the corperates.
I use it as a saver that softens the blow when you get those horrid run of 2nds.
Each to their own but for me its a side bet that unlike a place bet, can produce some large returns..
good luck..
