Harness Racing Value
 

Has anyone investigated Harness betting on betfair (for the fav). The liquidity on anything but the fav is not really there but there is a lot of money on the favs in most harness races.

Considering harness races in theory have a higher strike rate for the fav (although lower odds) if we can get the higher odds on betfair then it might be a viable place to bet.

I have run a couple of days so I do not have any conclusive evidence yet but I got 153 selections for a $31.29 profit after commission. I will continue to run this for several months to see what happens. I suspect I have had a good patch so far and expect it to revert to a slight loss.

Anyone got anything to back/negate these figures ?

Ran it last night again and it had a small loss from 26 bets of -$3.83

It only hit 11/26 (42%) so was down on the previous test period which was 78/153 (51%).

Also average odds yesterday was $2.33 compared to $2.70 for the original 153 bets. If I had hit average of 2.70 yesterday I would have made a profit.

I'll see how it goes again today.

Could you also run it just for odds on favourites.
Seen some tremendous value on those.

Yes this is all favourites. Odds on (less then $2) has returned $-2.82 Which is after 5% commission.

OOps No that is wrong. I included Place bets in that last result. Silly me.

All odds on favs betting only for the win returns -0.92 units after 59 selections. Not enough to draw any conclusions yet but its close to break even.

Yesterday was a shocker losing 7 units.

Overall it is now only up 18 units of 202 bets.
